James Hood is an experienced player and studio musician, he started repairing guitars in 1989 in North San Diego County. He later had the opportunity to apprentice under the Luthier Bill Meyer of Jackstraw Guitars. He apprenticed under Bill Meyer while working for Buffalo Brothers guitars in Carlsbad, CA. It was at Buffalo Bro's Guitars where he honed in on his skills as a guitar tech and luthier. James is certified by Martin Guitars, Taylor guitars and guild guitars. He started working for Buffalo Bro’s in early 2005 and by 2010 had opened his own independent guitar repair shop in the back of Buffalo Bro’s. When Buffalo Bro’s Guitar Shop went out of business in April of 2013 James moved his guitar shop next door, behind Bobby’s Cafe. Our shop can handle all of your guitar repair needs, including guitar setup, re-fretting, fret-dressing, nut & and saddle fabrication, in a reasonable amount of time with a positive attitude and at reasonable prices.
