Dr. Itani and the nurses are great, and the staffs are very friendly. I heard so many scary stories about wisdom teeth extractions, but Dr. Itani made it absolutely PAINLESS. I’m on Day 4 post-op and there’s no swelling or pain at all. I know it sounds unreal but I didn’t even take any prescribed pain medications. Dr. Itani also responded to my messages over the weekend promptly and patiently, which was very reassuring for some nervous patient. I’d totally recommend this place to anyone if it’s in-network with your dental insurance.

If I ever need oral/facial surgery work, I'll be coming back here. From the desk to the practice, it's been a great experience. Reception was very friendly, helpful, gave lots of information. Dr. Merlo is prompt, professional and does great work. Concerns were met with reassurance. I got my wisdom teeth removed here and wasn't too groggy from anesthesia, the pain was very minimal besides one awful tooth, can't do much about that and aftercare instructions were very clear. They even stayed open and kept my appointment on a very snowy dc day when the city is known for shutting down. Highly satisfied.
Highly recommended! Even with my anxiety at an all time high, Dr.Merlo and his assistant Zoila were able to reassure me that I would feel no pain while remaining awake during my impacted wisdom tooth removal! They were correct! Procedure took no more than 10 minutes if that..I wouldn’t expect anything more from 1 of the top rated oral surgeons in Washington,DC! Zoila was very knowledgeable throughout the entire procedure and very patient during all followups I thought she was the Dr at first! I will be returning for the remaining 3 wisdom teeth to be removed very soon!
I have been Dr. Merlo patient for 3+ years, I had 3 implants done by him. He is an outstanding surgeon, and his staff is very professional and polite. Waiting time is minimal and everything is done quickly and efficiently.

Professional service was rendered as soon as I stepped in the door. Dr. Merlo continually asked how I was doing while working in my mouth. Every was very kind and gentle, so I felt safe. You go home with the best post-op instructions.
The surgery was very easy and I was amazed with the results. I didn’t experience any swelling or discoloration and at about a week after surgery, I am operating fully with minimal pain. Both the doctor and staff are super nice and I felt comfortable and taken care of the whole time. Plus at the end the quote was not outrageous. It was very decently priced with insurance when compared to other surgeons I got quotes from. Overall highly recommend. Then only issue I had was parking in the area but hey, that’s just dc.
I was nervous to get my four impacted wisdom teeth out. My surgery/ recovery at Washington Oral & Facial Surgery went very well. I always felt I was informed about my procedure and recovery. My surgical team under Dr. Merlo was incredible and always caring and attentive. In addition, the office was exceptional at communicating the steps of my recovery and appointment times. Everyone I interacted with in the office was friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend Washington Oral &Facial Surgery to someone who needs to get their wisdom teeth taken out.
All of the Washington Oral Surgery staff are kind, helpful, and easy to work with. It was easy for me to find time to come in for a consultation, come in for my wisdom teeth removal, and schedule a follow up. My procedure was painless and my recovery was about as quick as could be expected. I appreciated how warm and friendly everyone was - it really helped to improve my overall experience here. I would recommend them to a friend for any oral surgery needs.
