Story

My father and mother, James and Trudy Mazzo started the family business, JM Auto Service, in 1965 in Aurora, Colorado. This was and continues to be a full collision, paint shop and mechanical.

In 1980, the family purchased John’s Towing, a 24 hour Towing and Recovery Service, which consisted of one tow truck and a hand full of clients.

In 1986 Dad passed away, which left me, my sister and mom to operate both companies. At this point in our lives it would have been easy to walk away, but Mom and Dad worked too hard to build the companies. It was uncommon for women to own companies in the automotive industry, but we saw that as a great opportunity that proved to be a benefit for our company, in particular with female customers who have been treated poorly by other shops.

In the late 1990’s John’s Towing out grew the old shop and we had a new facility built for the towing company we also decided to expand by adding a RV and Boat Storage business and RV Rental business, Chamber Road RV and Boat Storage.

Of course, with the growth of JM Auto Service, and having two different locations we were spreading ourselves thin driving back and forth. So in 2010 we built a state of the art 19000 square foot facility that incorporates all of our businesses at one location.

Today JM Auto Service employs 15 employees for the Collision and Body Shop and Mechanical Shop, John’s Towing employs 21 with a fleet of 17 newer tow trucks. With the success of these companies, Apollo Motorhome Holidays RV Rentals, an international company approached JM and asked us to be their Denver Branch Agent, which we accepted. That business employs another 6 employees. Due to our reputation we were also approached by Hertz Rental Car Agency. We now partnered with Hertz and are renting their vehicles to customers. With over 45 employees to including myself, my sister, (Adrienne Pietrafeso), mom, (Trudy) and my sister’s husband, Ron Pietrafeso), who is the General Manager. We feel blessed to have been so successful. It did require hard work, loyal customers, and great friends who all supported us through the bad and good times during our 50 years.
