Dr. John Stivers
My great-grandfather, Gideon, was a dentist in Louisville back in the 1890's, but to say he was our founder wouldn't be accurate. It was another older dentist, Dr. Atherton who came to my high school and talked about the dental profession. A bit later, in my junior year, I visited the University of Kentucky dental school. I looked over their brand new facility and saw all those cool-looking guys walking around in their white coats, and I was hooked!
So after high school and 4 years of college, I began my dental education, little realizing that 40 years later I'm still a student. With all the new technology and advancements, it's a great time to be a dentist and a great time to be a dental patient!
Yes, after 40 years as a dentist I still love my work. So many dentists list all the advanced institutes they've studied at, but most of the institutes names don't mean much to anybody except other dentists. But I've attended many of the same programs, so if you're really interested, just ask.
When I'm not being a dentist or studying and getting schooled on how to be a better dentist, I enjoy writing, computer programming, playing golf very poorly and following college sports. I also find time to spoil my 2 granddaughters, Emma and Gabriela.
I also find time to give back to the community by providing free dental care to the needy in our city through Touched Twice Ministries.
So I am a very lucky man: I get to work alongside my wife Donna (and sneak a hug from time to time), I get to work with some other great ladies that make up our team, and get to serve some of the nicest people on earth--my patients.
Thank you, all.
