Story

We opened our Waldo location in June of 2013 under the name "Shot Stop". A concept we conceived in Manhattan, KS in 2009. Kansas City took well to the idea of a shot bar and K-State alum were glad to have a spot in the area. We sold a lot of shots and $2 bottles over this 2 year span. In April of 2015 we decided the store needed a face lift, so we added a comfortable patio space and roll up garage doors to the front of our building plus five 65' TVs, perfect for watching games.

Who is Johnny Kaw?

Johnny Kaw is the Midwest Paul Bunyan created by a former K-State professor. He wrote a number of tall tales depicting how Johnny created the Kansas landscape, invented sunflowers and even controlled the weather wringing out rain clouds to end droughts. His pets were the Wildcat and the Jayhawk. He is rumored to have had an illegitimate pet tiger as well. A 30’ statue stands in City Park in Manhattan, KS to honor this legendary folk hero.

Why Johnny Kaw's?

Although we've changed our name from Shot Stop to Johnny Kaw's Sport Bar, we still have $2 bottles all day everyday. We've also updated our chalkboards that display a variety of unique shots, drinks and bombs. Our food is affordable, fast and focuses on appetizers and bar snacks.

The space is equipped with an impressive sound system that's great for sporting events... or partying with friends when paired with our dance lights in the evening. Our huge horse-shoe shaped bar allows for quick service from our fun, fast, energetic staff...many of them recent KSU grads. We invite fans from all over to come party for the Kaw's!
