If you're visiting philly you need to stop at this long standing hometown favorite. With more than 60 years of serving philly, you're guaranteed to leave with a full belly, and a happiness in your mouth. Located just minutes from center city, 95, and Penn's landing. Johnny hots serves up delicious hot sausage sandwiches, along with cheesesteaks, burgers, and other delicious treats.
Have been going to Johnny's for years the sausages are done on the flat top grill and get a nice slightly brown char on them. My favorite is the Hot Sausage with wiz and sauteed onion. The Hot with the fish cake is great and something different for someone who likes a sandwich with something a little off the wall and unique. Staff is friendly and atmosphere is ok considering it is outside and the traffic of Delaware Ave is right there. You do have the option of eating on site but most order to take away, still a Philly institution that folks should visit at least once.
Great fish cake hot dog! Cash only, so be prepared.
This is the place. I have been looking for exactly this for years. It’s the perfect breakfast sandwich. An absolutely excellent family-owned and run joint with amazing freshly made and reasonably priced bacon egg and cheese sandwiches. What more can one possibly need? Great iced coffee too and a side of scrapple which was also excellent. Inexpensive too. I will be a loyal customer and honestly can’t recommend this place enough. It’s cash only, but very much worth the ATM trip. Don’t use their ATM out front though, it has a totally ridiculous $3 or $4 surcharge. Considering many of their sides/additions cost $1 or less, the first time I stopped by I actually left. I didn’t have cash and the ATM was just stupid to use. But a total 10/10 experience otherwise.
Best breakfast sandwich in the city. Totally philly vibe. Cash only, be ready to order when you get to the window. Has a Freinds soup place kind of feel. But wouldn't go anywhere elseFood: 5/5
I, am a long time patron, of Johnny Hots; as far back as 1999. The food remains, as enjoyable/inviting, as the staff. My son; who is approaching 30, remembers, and, continues to frequent this establishment; beginning at age 5. This family owned gem, is a staple of the city. This was especially a treat, if you worked overnight; as they opened at 6am. I, often eagerly awaited their early morning arrival. I, cannot thank “Johnny Hots,” for the hospitality, memories, and, exemplary service, over the years.
I must go here at least 2 times a week and have been getting the same thing for over 10 years! There is no better hot sausage around! The food is always good and the staff is very friendly everyone knows John and john knows everyone. I don't even have to order, my meal is ready by the time I get to the window lolFood: 5/5
