Ridiculously long line OUTSIDE in the rain/cold. Interesting crowd... good if you like some throwback music. Not necessarily a good fit for all ages as recommended by friends. Long waits for drinks and super crowded inside. It was a Saturday night, so crowded was expected. Women’s bathroom was well directed by attendant, BUT the ventilation was awful and there was no door to the restroom... pretty awkward. They need renovation. Otherwise, all is well. Still a fun spot to go, maybe on a less crowded night when you don’t have to wait in line for an hour.
For a club that claims to be 80’s and 90’s and it being my first visit....what a let down. If my over priced drinks weren’t so strong some a little to strong then my score would be lower. Decor wise there is a couple pictures on the wall relating towards the Era if 80’s-90’s, music wise as we were outside the music sounded like what I was expecting but maybe 20mins after we got in it turned to awful rap music no from this era/decade that no one had even heard of. After paying the $10 cover fee we stayed and danced, even though the club was full of creeps who kept trying to make advances towards people in are group. Bouncers were good about breaking fights up or getting the people out but unless you manage to snag a booth then expect to be outside on the patio if you don’t want to be body against body in the club because they will let it get very packed.
One of the best experiences at a bar ever. I was an 80's kid. Loved the music and the theme at Jones. Staff were great once inside. Doorman had a lot to handle with how busy the street is. The crowd the night we went was younger, but everyone seemed to be loving the DJ. Drinks were on par with any other club on that street.
I was amazed that they were playing 80's music and all the young-ins knew the songs and were dancing. I guess we went on a good night. There were about 6 of us and we got one of the booths available. Drinks were a bit pricey, but it is a club in Portland, so I wouldn't expect anything less. There was a DJ and lots of people there. Not really my scene but the music the night we went was worth it.
Love the layout of this club. The staff is professional and the service times are fair for the amount of people in the bar. I have never eaten there and not sure I'd want to. It doesn't appear to be the cleanest place. The bathroom attendant was freaky. That's a sh!??y job. Great dance floors and patio area.
Came in to Jones for the first time a few Saturdays ago, brought some friends from Seattle to show them a good time in Portland. First impression, it looks nice, good music. Bar staff were horrible, slow, gave dirty looks and were very unprofessional. Security staff was also very unprofessional, were racist, and we did not feel safe inside this place. Needless to say that we will not come back here. This place won’t last long if this continues to go on. They need to train their people in proper customer service and how to treat a customer. Its people who come through those doors, pay an entrance fee and pay for drinks and food that keep your checks coming in monthly.
Every time I have visited Jones I have had poor experiences with the bouncers. I understand they are frustrated with all of the intoxicated people they have to deal with but that is their job. They should still be expected to be respectful towards others. It has happened to me so many times that I now refuse to go back. There are so many other bars in Portland where this isn't a problem so I choose to go where the employees are actually nice.
Jones is ALWAYS a fun time. The music is always great, be it current hits or classics, but they never fail to inject my night with a bit of 90s nostalgia. Of course, like with any popular club the line up at the bar can be crazy. But what I really care for is the ample floor space to shake what my momma gave me. There is a cover. And from my understanding a dress code, nothing crazy. I think They just don’t care for flip flops.
Came out from salem to have a good time and every staff member from jones bar made it impossible to do so. Very sneaky and scandalous security and extremely rude. They will yell at you and cuss at you. Show no remorse. The bar tenders are also rude and do a terrible job. Told the bar tender what i wanted and she proceeded to yell something back and ignored me. And it was my first drink for the night. Worst club I've ever been to time after time. They don't even play any 80s music and they're supposedly a 80 and 90s themed bar. They really need to get their act together. I've been here a few times so this is based off of all the times I've been here. Won't waste my time here. And you better believe all my friends will here about this.
A really great and fun nightclub. The music is always on point and the atmosphere is always always great. They have a patio area which is a pretty nice layout and good if you just need to get some air have a drink outside. They sometimes have drink deals what drinks are normally priced usual for a nightclub which is typically somewhat expensive
