Great walking and hiking trails, some wheelchair accessible. Developed trails & boardwalk along Black Creek, with acres of level 2 undeveloped hiking trails. Beautiful during all seasons. Fresh water aquifer flows near bottom of a several tier set of stairs that give quick access to the creek, and aquifer & boardwalk, or take the lazy level 1 maintained 1/2 mile trail. Picnic tables available near parking & Kalmia house, bathrooms on premises. Botanical garden has tags indicating species of local flora, and indicators of the local fauna. Upper entrance level has well maintained formal garden of local flora around house.

Very nice garden to walk/jog in. Some of the steps and decking are old and loose, so be careful.

Growing up I was very fortunate to live beside kalmia gardens. It was like an extension of my backyard. I utilized this opportunity to learn as much as I could about the history of Thomas Hart house, mountain laurel, and different species of birds just to name a few. Today as a grown man I still frequent the garden. I use kalmia as a meditation area to escape the stress of the real world. I would encourage you to visit this beautiful sanctuary that's right here in little Hartsville. No admission is required!
