Kazoo is a fabulous place for kids to be and learn how to learn - and it is a place without the ability to accommodate children. Kazoo fosters independence and creativity in students, and most of the teachers are exceptional. However, there is a lack of real leadership at the administrative level. The head of school does not make sure there are resources in place to help teachers and students deal with situations existing outside the "norm." She refuses to take action and secure trained professionals, even when a child is repeatedly hurt by another child who has special needs. The attitude of peace and love is wonderful, but the school sometimes takes it too far, and does not address things that need to be addressed - like not having any teacher trained in special ed, having NO school counselor or social worker, having no library or real gym, and having no clear school-wide way to deal with conflict. We might be back if some of these things are addressed, but I would never have my kids here again with the current head of school.

Few decisions are as important as where to send your child to school. As parents, we took our time and researched all the available options. As I write this, I can honestly say that choosing Kazoo School is one of the best decisions we ever made as parents. Kazoo is a place where every child is known and cared for. A place where curiosity and creativity are valued. Its small size leads to a family atmosphere and much one on one in the classroom. In a world that is becoming more and more preoccupied with standardized testing at the sake of almost everything else, Kazoo School views outdoor recess, the arts, and daily physical education not as a luxury, rather a necessity. But above all, the reason we know we made the right decision choosing Kazoo is the happiness and progress of our child who runs into class each and every day excited to see what he will learn next...!

My daughter attended Kazoo School from grades 4-8. She loved it for the safe, secure environment where it was cool to be smart, interested and engaged as a young learner. She developed lots of friends -- students, faculty and administration. She developed into some that loves doing well and inquiring into the nature of things with other minds. Her class competed in several academic competitions (Math Counts, Reading Contests and National History) and she and the class always managed outsized results ... its the little school that could.
If you want your kids to love learning this is the place to start them off. These days it is pre-school through 8th!
