I have been shopping at Keller’s for years and have always been pleased. This year I ordered a 12-14lb fresh turkey for an 11/22 pickup. They didn’t reserve my order and were out of turkeys in that size. The largest they had was 10lbs. Since I had no time to shop elsewhere I accepted the 10lb. When I got it home it was mostly frozen. I brined it for 2 days in the fridge and it was still partially frozen. I made do with what they sold me but I was highly disappointed. I will not be doing business with them again.
Sad. Pre-ordered a 20lb fresh turkey weeks ago and upon arrival today they had two large turkey’s left, a 28lb and a 30lb. Plus it was mostly frozen. Would of been close thawing it out for Thanksgiving. To top it off the price was $134!!! For a turkey! Decided to go to Albertsons and found a 20lb fresh Turkey just discounted for $13.28. Guess where I will ship next year! No thanks Keller’s. You dropped the ball this year!
We come to Keller's every 2 weeks and it's always a good experience. We like to buy most of out meats here. Kellers makes their own sausage as, maple pork breakfast sausage and Polish kielbasa is always in our shopping cart. We also buy pork shoulder, which they always cut for us to whatever portions we like. Their meat is grass fed and without any antibiotics, everything is pretty much organic without the organic label. Eggs are from a farm in Colorado where the chickens have free range. I highly recommend stopping by one of their two location.
Had exactly what we needed. We just came from another "fancy" store, that did not have what we were in search of. Kellers is such a understated little gem! Thank you
Stopped here yesterday to maybe get a sandwich for me and daughter and when we walked in the entire place smelled like raw sewage. I understand having raw meat out but the smell was so overwhelming we just walked out. Maybe will revisit in a few weeks but first visit not good at all.
I used to drive to other side of town to get their potato salads, deviled eggs and cucumbers and sour cream. The last five out of six times I went to get their potato salad the potatoes were raw. In addition they put so much pepper and all of their potato salad that they're inedible. The Czechoslovakian salad which used to be a favorite doesn't even look the same it's got so much pepper and so much bacon and so little salad dressing in it that all you taste is the pepper. They no longer make the cucumbers and sour cream. This is a huge disappointment to me because I used to look so forward to eating these things. I will not waste my gas to drive so far anymore.
We asked for a piece of pork belly with the skin on. We thawed it, opened up the package and there's no skin. Won't be back if they can't get that right. Especially if we had the clerk's fully attention. We spent a lot of money on a piece of meat that we can't cook the way we want. If you want pork belly done right, go somewhere else.
I don't know if I have ever been to a store with friendlier and accommodating employees, than Kellers. I called twice for different fats to mix for grinding meat and each time Reese at the meat counter made sure I left with what I wanted. Not enough great things can be said about this store. Farm fresh neat selection with a great staff, you can't beat it.
TO KELLERS RESPONSE : IF YOU'RE GOING TO CALL YOUR MEAT ORGANIC YOU ARE LEGALLY REQUIRED TO PROVIDE ITS ORIGIN TO CONSUMERS ACCORDING TO THE LAW IN NM. it does not matter if the farm is open to the public or not. ALSO LESS THAB 15$ AN HOUR IS NOT A LIVABLE WAGE. Not only will the staff refuse to tell you where exactly the "local farm" is or what the name of it is in regards to exactly where they get their meat selection they don't even pay their hard working employees a livable wage. Such a rip off. You cant claim "local organic meat" if you can't back it up with actual facts. Will be calling around to see how to report their false advertising.
Not a bad local butcher shop. Not bad variety. Prices are a little up there. All in all good place to shop for meats.
