Kempsville Recreation Center

We're a family of four who love the rec center. Our boys BEG ME to go to the "play area" even after spending a long day at school. The 'play area' is the drop in child care. The body pump classes with Lisa are the best fitness classes I've ever been to, several people come from the ocean front and other rec centers farther away just to take her class. The pool and gym are great as well. We go several times a week and just love it.

The Kempsville Rec Center was recently closed for maintenance so the shower heads are new. Great pool and resistance pool to walk as well as the walking track on the second floor. The track is unique because it’s painted different colors for different speeds. Work out room on the first floor. I’m a Marine Corps Veteran so I made sure to take a photo of the sign they posted for free admission to Military members on Fridays…great way to test drive the Rec Center before you decide to become a member.

Me and my friend have been working out there for awhile and it is a great gym, and the pool is very nice as well, 5/5 experience

The place is not run by teenagers. I find the staff to be exceptionally friendly. It’s clean, the freeway area is good as well as the Zumba and body pump classes.

I used to bring my daughter's here when they were toddlers about 30 years ago and now I'm bringing my grandchildren. Also through silver sneakers Im able to take advantage of the facilities which, since they updated are very nice I dropped my PF gym membership. The pool is awesome and the kids love it Hope to continue coming here for years to come

No teen activities. Basketball and swimming is all and the basketball is restricted for the adults at times. they no longer have game rooms for teenagers or study rooms

I am very disappointed with the new summer hours for the AT. I cannot get to the Rec center before 10 or even 11am I work late, VERY late, and it is only open for walkers using the resistance until 10. I realize that I can still use it after 10, but then I have to duck the playful water hazards and swimmers the whole time. In my opinion there aren't enough kids there to warrant this change. I like to walk for an hour, but since the change, I am the only person doing it and I cant fight the current for that long alone. PLUS the sides of the AT NEED TO BE CLEANED!!!!

The staff was very friendly and accommodating when I signed us up to join. My grandkids throughly enjoyed the pool areas. Great experience!!!

Lots to do for the whole family. Nice aqua track and pool. Helpful staff and clean facilities.

Had my son’s birthday party here. The kids enjoyed the pool for a few hours, then we ate pizza and cake. Anthony was wonderful to work with and was there to help coordinate anything I needed. The price was very reasonable as well.
