This was so good! Not great if you are trying to watch the salt content but if you want some delicious Senegalese food, this place did the trick! Please keep in mind that I know absolutely nothing about Senegalese food standards, but my friend who is a first generation West African descendant and more familiar with the cuisine said she thought the food was great. At the very least, it was yummy to this uncultured American girl! The atmosphere was a bit dark for my liking but the place was clean and the portion sizes were wonderful. Great value, just not for less adventurous eaters.
Friendly Senegalese restaurant in Harlem with tasty, traditional food and generous portions, though the amount of fish with the tieboudienne is a bit small relative to the amount of rice. The atmosphere is typical of what you would experience in Senegal, including the TV channels. Customers chat with each other, sometimes across tables, while waiting for their meals. Don’t be surprised that not every dish on the menu is available every day. Look at the daily specials section to see what they have that day. Every Senegalese restaurant I’ve been to does this, but this is the only one I saw with the daily specials list. I brought a friend who had never had Senegalese food before and she liked both dishes.
Food is not bad, could definitely be better. You may want to order to go & not dine in, the place is very small with customers coming in & out picking up their to go order. The staff is friendly, the service needs improvements though, they don't clean the tables quick enough. I suggest the owner gets round tables instead of rectangle ones to save space and make it more comfortable for their customers.
I enjoyed the food and the friendly vibe of this small Senegalese restaurant. Kid friendly too!Food: 5/5
Very good experience. I have a west African background and I haven’t had a chance to taste my parents cuisine in years. I had a tieboodien which is rice and fish with legumes and vegetable. I asked for alloco plantain, tiakry couscous soaked in yogurt and flavoured with vanilla Food: 9/10 my dish was a little bit too oily but really good and tasty. Alloco and tiakry were perfect Quantity: 11/10 this could feed 2 people, hence I haven’t finished and took some for home Service: 6/10 far from North American standard but they weren’t rude Would I return? YES Hope this help
This west africa restaurant has really delicious food and the prices are good the only downside is the seating inside of the restaurant there is not enough space it feels to tight otherwise great food .
Excellent yassa chicken and shawarmas! Felt like a Quick visit to Dakar with out the airfare! Dont miss the homenade bissap and ginger limonade juices. Clean and tasty. Worth the trip!!!
I stopped there to get food: cashier machine was broke and I withdrawn from the ATM. Didn't get the right order. They served me left over lunch to dinner. They charged me 5 dishes in which I got only 4. I have never seen the chicken Debbie which was charged. Struggling for change and I gave it to them. Worst experience ever. Will never stop there again.
Great place for East African food I really appreciate the welcome in this restaurant. The tieb, the fried chicken and the plantain babana was typically what we can eat in Senegal. Convivial and pleasant service by Coumba and her team, thank you very much. The restaurant lacks a bit of light and not easy to identify externaly but a great ambiance.
The food is ok, I really wanted Senegalese food but I was very disappointed by the customer service. The lady was acting like we were annoying her, I had to greet her and she barely responded. She dismissed us the moment we placed our order and would answer the phone in the middle of our interaction without even excusing herself. What kind of behavior is that? Très impolie.
