Story

KGW is the leading news source for the area that includes Portland, Oregon, and Southwest Washington. Since 1956, the news station has been a community resource for breaking news, weather, sports, entertainment, events, and other information. Its broadcast, digital and social platforms are widely viewed and committed to providing stellar local coverage.

KGW went on the air in 1956. It became an NBC affiliate in the early 1960's.

Our proud heritage of talent includes Today Show anchor Ann Curry and ABC consumer reporter John Stossel. Currently, the KGW news team is anchored by Tracy Barry, Joe Donlon and Laural Porter. The Chief Meteorologist is Matt Zaffino.
