The martial arts are a great way to keep fit, focus your energy, and become more disciplined in mind and body.
Mission Statement
Knight’s Isshin-Ryu Karate & Kobudo teaches traditional Okinawan martial arts in the Kailua community and promotes self-defense, physical fitness, and family values in a fun, safe and positive environment.
Credentials
Knight’s Isshin-Ryu Karate & Kobudo was established in 1995 by David and Stacie Knight. Chief instructor, David Knight (U.S. Army, Ret.), is one of only nine certified Isshin-Kai instructors and the only one in the state of Hawaii. Stacie Knight is also a 2nd degree Black Belt in Isshin-Ryu Karate. Most importantly we care about you, your goals, and your ohana.
What Makes Isshin-Ryu Karate Unique?
On January 15th, 1956, Master Tatsuo Shimabuku, the founder of Isshin-Ryu Karate, officially named his style. He combined the Okinawan culture and its philosophies with techniques from traditional Okinawan styles such as Shorin-Ryu, Goju-Ryu, and Kobudo (weapons). In doing so, he created a unique style of karate that is an extremely efficient form of self-defense. It maximizes body mechanics to produce powerful and fluid techniques. These unique body mechanics are precisely why people of all ages and experience levels can easily learn and effectively use the style in real life, self-defense situations.
Our dojo also offers qualified instruction in other forms of martial arts such as: Largo Mano Escrima, Sensei A.J. Advincula’s Karate-Do, Hindiandi Gung Fu, Knife fighting and various other Okinawan weapons katas.
