The food is always great whenever me and my fiancee come here. I've not been disappointed by the food or service yet! The Set Menu is always good to go by, it makes it very easy as the price per head is $35, you get an appetizer, main course, followed by coffee and or dessert. I think the quality for what you pay here is fantastic. Parking: The parking here is very dependent on luck, time of day, and day of the week. Sometimes you may find a great spot, other times you may have to park 5+ or so blocks away, but it's not the restaurant's fault. Just plan accordingly if you make a reservation.
Amazing service, best in the city. BYOB, can’t beat it. I have nothing negative to say. The food is amazing, the portion is perfect, prices are perfect. Ambience is perfect. My new favorite Italian restaurant!Food: 5/5
This place was what I was looking for in the Philly dining experience! It was a cozy open and small Italian restaurant that was so unbelievably good!! The staff was super super nice and personal and I appreciated all of it. I also had some of the best calamari of my life.Food: 5/5
FANTASTIC- this was the experience I’ve been looking for in Philly. Quaint restaurant with fantastic food, excellent service- owner came over to us multiple times to personally offer us help- and they let us hang out and talk at our table as long as we pleased. Did not feel rushed at all. BYOB!! We got the squid ink pasta with calamari and the NY strip steak special. Fantastic home cooked Italian meal. Adding this place to my list of favorites!!!
It's an old school Italian restaurant. Nothing fancy. Food was good. It's BYOB so I get why you want to come back. Service was attentive and we did enjoy our evening. Will definitely go back . There is a more formal side to the restaurant.. by side I mean across the street. But when I did our reservation, I did make it for the more formal side. But they just put you across the street. Call and make your reservation to ensure your at the side you want:
This place is great. BYOB means $60 + tip for two delicious entrees and an appetizer. Perfect date night spot and the servers have been polite every single time. People in the reviews are unrealistic in their expectations and the accusations of racism are absurd. White male here and they’ve moved my table too… just saying.Food: 5/5
This place left me speechless. They are BOYB and cash only. Service was excellent! The food was absolutely amazing. If you find yourself in the area, definitely check them out. I thoroughly enjoyed everything I tried that day.
We had a table of 7 for a birthday reservation. Prior to arrival, we called & told the restaurant we had a reservation for a bday at 8 pm on Saturday the 14th. We were told that they would place a candle & decorate the plate with the dessert. Upon arrival, we mentioned that we were here for a birthday & said the birthday girls name. But when the dessert came, there was NOTHING! No candle, no decorated plate. We were so shocked & appalled. The food was incredible especially the lobster ravioli & pasta was nice the ambiance was quite cute but the service really ruined what was supposed to be a special dinner.
Terrible experience, with racial and religious discrimination! I went with a group of my friends all hijabis and we were placed in a separate room, that was closed off from the rest of the restaurant. I specifically had booked a reservation for La Viola West, but only after we had all finished our meal, we were told that we were in La Viola East, which only accepted cash. We were not informed of this beforehand. Additionally, the food did not taste good except for the dessert and we felt very hurt by the entire experience. Do better!!!
I had a mostly positive experience but a few things left me feeling put off. I'll start with the positive... the food was good not amazing, basic in it's preparation, presentation and flavors. But I find that often, simple food can be some of the best. The service was good not great, ample but not particularly personal, special or friendly, very robotic. The issue that was very off-putting to me was an atmosphere and booking issue. I looked at pics of both locations across the street from each other online and specifically chose and made a RESERVATION for La Viola WEST because of the atmosphere and ambience as compared to the Bistro. When arriving at La Viola West we found a sign on the door that said "we are open across the street". So instead of sitting in a charming restaurant, we were sat in what reminded me of my grandparent's living room. See pics of the difference below. The restaurant should not give the option or illusion that you're able to choose a location if you are not, it's misleading. And we were given no explanation or apology. The tiramisu was really good.
