The lake is a very peaceful and beautiful place to visit in the late fall. The lake is never too incredibly busy year round and the cliffs and waterfall areas make it very serene! Sometimes I call it my therapy room.
Lots to see and do here for adults, kiddos, and teens. The park is very clean and the greenery is always manicured. Lots of free parking too.
First time coming to Lake Olathe. We came here to take the kids on the obstacle course that they have. I personally thought it was bigger for adult use also, but it appears to be only for kids and that’s all I seen use it was kids which is fine. Once you purchase a time for the course, you have to go out at a certain time for 1 hour usage. The beach area was clean, small but clean. Plenty of life guards. Had a shower/wash off area and can purchase food and eat under a shade area. The facility was clean and nice overall. I don’t know about the restrooms as I didn’t use them. We will come back.
The work they have done here has really improved the area. It looks beautiful now and has a ton of attractions. Definitely a great outdoor space to spend time with friends or family. #NatsJourneys #ExploreYourCity #OlatheKS #Recommended
This review is strictly about the swim beach not the park in general. Granted we went on opening day and they were still working out the kinks, but I was not impressed. While the facility is very nice there are not enough shaded areas on the beach nor are there umbrellas available. The beach itself is maybe 20 feet deep by 100 feet wide which makes it difficult to find a good spot for your things without being on top of anyone. The swimmable space is short with only about 3 feet in depth which is annoying for adults and might be good for kids, but there are too many sink holes and reeds in the water for the kids to go very far out. The best feature of the attraction is the water slides which of course is limited to those people that can pay more money. As you can see from the photos that means 1 kid to 4 life guards. If they make this free it might be worth the money but if I were you I’d just go to Blackbob water park.
I love the lake. We fish from our kayak. It is much better quieter on weekdays. The one thing that really makes me mad is all the trash on the shores from the people that fish from them. It's disgusting! Why?!?! Also, we were there the week before 4th of July. The joy johns were full at the boat dock and kayak launch. We went back on the Sunday before the 4th. The joy John's were overflowing.
Wonderful spot to enjoy peace, great place to take the kiddos for fishing,
Nice park/lake. Several shelters. Boat ramp. Building new roads and pavilion plus new play equipment and swim area. A lot of renovation this winter at Lake Olathe.
Splash pad and water feature are great!
Incredible transformation. Absolutely LOVE the new Lake Olathe!! Cannot wait until next summer.
