Great gym! I dropped in here while traveling for work and the team was SO FRIENDLY! I am so happy that I dropped in twice, I met some great people and even made a new friend on instagram. If you are traveling, contact them to drop in. If you are a local, they seem like a super fun team!
I went to this gym for almost a year and was very patient with the things I didn’t like and gave this place a fair try, so here’s my honest review. Coach is very knowledgeable in fitness and is REALLY good at that part, but not at running a professional business and keeping equipment up to par. One day I came in and his face was busted open because a barbell snapped in half and the plates bounced in his face. Should have been the first red flag. Then I started noticing a few plates were visibility falling apart and still out on the floor for everyone to use. I’ve seen someone put a loaded bar down and a plate came apart in two pieces. I thought it wasn’t a big deal, but the last straw was when I slipped off their dusty, unclean medicine ball and dislocated my pinky. I kept working out but eventually ended my membership and they still charged me for an extra month. As far as vibes - you have a mix of friendly welcoming members and then some members who are too good to talk to you. Staff likes to gossips about the members. Feels high school-ish at times. Average expectations of an average gym. Coach audibly let’s people know about his politically conservative views. I also witnessed him mock a member’s accent in front of others and I could see the embarrassment of that member at the expense of an outdated joke. Low hanging fruit. If you care about who your coach is below the surface, then this is probably some basics to know. If you can keep it surface level, get in and get out then this place can work. He’s good at the coaching part. Just watch out for the equipment.
Great staff all about teaching and coaching newbies and athletes-in-training alike. I'm an out-of-shape Boomer looking to get stronger and generally fit with the guidance of a coach who can keep me from hurting myself from misusing freeweights. Owner Billy and his staff have made me feel welcome and well guided from the first time I dropped in to check it out. Their strength and conditioning class is personalized to each person's level while still moving along at a good pace. I wish I'd gotten this kind of coaching in free weights 30 years ago, before I damaged my shoulders from using free weights incorrectly. If you want a free weights gym along the lines of Mark Rippitoe's "starting strength" gyms, and you want expert friendly encouragement, coaching and guidance, this might be the place for you.
Love this gym and the owners! I've trained with Coach Billy for nearly five years, and I won't work with anyone else. It's a fun, safe environment, Billy is an expert in fitness, and the members are really nice. His nutrition programming is awesome, too. My health is better than it's ever been. Highly recommend!
I can’t say enough about this place! First Billy and Vanessa have created the most comfortable and family oriented gym space I’ve ever been to! There’s never any need to feel intimidated here. Billy’s coaching is second to none. His knowledge about fitness and nutrition is amazing and he’s been an amazing coach to me. After 3 years I am healthier and happier than I have ever been and this is the most consistent I have been going to the gym in my life. Love this place!
Friendly environment, immaculate facility. You would be hard to find a better managed gym with more accommodating members and staff. If you're a weightlifter in Vegas you need to do yourself a favor and drop in here.
Fantastic weightlifting gym, awesome equipment, super friendly owner. THE spot to train when in Vegas. Thank you for letting me drop in!
Las Vegas Barbell is an awsome gym with a great atmosphere...Coach Billy is an amazing coach that has patience, dedication and is willing to teach anyone from any level of experience. I would recommend anyone to this gym as they are very welcoming to everyone that wants to workout and learn about weightlifting, strength programming & nutrition. What I love about the gym is that thier hours are very flexible so you can choose the times you want to workout which is amazing! Thank you coach Billy for everything you do for our community your the best!
Hands down, the best Olympic and general strength gym in Las Vegas area. Billy is extremely knowledgeable coach and experienced national level competitor. He equally dedicates himself to the full-time athletes, as well as new members of the gym. The atmosphere here is very friendly and supportive. This is why a lot of people call this place their second home.
