Their chocolates and baked goods are great, but their milk based espresso drinks are not. They do not know how to properly steam milk. It is always over 160 degrees and over frothed with huge bubbles. The also don't offer a size smaller than 16oz for cappuccinos - which should tell you everything you need to know about their espresso knowledge. I hope they read this review and take some classes at UP Roasters or TrueStone Roasters. Heck I'm happy to give some pointers for free.
This used to be a five-star review. Legacy had long been my favorite independent coffee shop to visit, but something has changed in recent months. The service has become lackluster, at best. two visits ago, I was in the shop for 3 minutes before anyone even lifted up a head to say anything. Today I bought a $4+ muffin left a decent tip only to receive a rock-hard, barely edible lump of something. I threw it out when I got back to work with my mid-afternoon snack. Based on the staleness of the muffin, I'm guessing it had to be almost a week old. Not sure what has changed recently, but two of my last three visits have been highly disappointing.
Chris and his team take “grabbing a coffee” to a whole new level. Located on the skyway level of the Pioneer Endicott building, the trip there is visually joyful in itself. It gets better: the crew at Legacy is always welcoming, and often greet regulars by name. Speaking as somewhat of a connoisseur, the various pour-overs they offer are the best I’ve had. The muffins and sweet or savory scones show-cased under glass domes are fresh daily and look and taste like something that would come out of your Grandma’s oven. An absolute must: try one of the onsite hand dipped truffles or assortment of chocolate barks. They have brownies, and understand the value of asking if you’d like a center or edge cut piece! Legacy’s milk shakes and malts have become one of my favorite treats. Be sure to check out the sixteen floor open foyer in the Pioneer Endicott; there are also a few small tables with seating if you care to linger with your coffee. The whole experience at Legacy Chocolates will leave you feeling glad you visited them.
Wow. Do not miss this hidden gem. Best chocolate I’ve ever had. And the coffee was phenomenal. Freshly drawn with an incredible attention to detail.
I love their coffee, I only wish they had seatings to enjoy their coffee while working. I loved the white chocolate icing brownies they have at their store in Menomonie, which they don’t make the same here. I hope they start making one day!
This Chocolate Café is amazing. Cute and quaint it sits on the second floor of the Pioneer Endicott bldg. Legacy Chocolates is a great place to get a gift or just treat yourself! They have a variety of gourmet truffles, chocolates, bars and coffee. Don’t like caffeine? They serve a delicious coco as well. I highly suggest stopping by if you are in the area!
A chocoholics dream! There is no wrong move you can make except not buying anything. My favorites are the brownies. They are so rich and most. It’s the perfect pairing with one of their deliciously creamy lattes. I visit any time I can and make a point to give their chocolates as a gift. Each time I walk in I’m greeted by a bright smile behind the counter! The staff are very knowledgeable and love to chat about their passion: chocolate!
Decent prices, good coffee, tasty chocolate, and great chocolate chip cookies…need I say more?!
They have the best German chocolate cake that I have ever tried in my life. So moist and decadent! I try to go there whenever I am in St. Paul! I seriously cannot recommend this place enough to my friends. If you love chocolates, it’s a must-visit place in the Twin Cities.
Missing you guys from Western Kalimantan! Borneo Best cup of coffee in Minnesota! They make a bold cup and do a pour over, I forget what they call the dark roast, but it's a great coffee. Haven't tried the chocolates yet. Fun crew that seem very happy with their jobs.
