I appreciate Marc. He is very understanding and nice however, his wife on the other hand was a tough one to talk to which is unfortunate because she was the agent she’s the community lead now or person to get in contact with when you called about anything concerning the apartment minus maintenance. She would ignore my emails and calls. When she wrote me back, it would be snarky or rude. I don’t know who farted in her oatmeal but it wasn’t me. If you get their mobile number, you’ll be able to bypass her and text Marc, he responds quickly and handles things in a timely manner. My apartment, the floor wasn’t leveled so the roof would leak due to the shifting. Whatever temperature it is outside, that will be what the temperature is inside but you have AC units with remotes which is a cool touch but does cost money so remember that in the summer and winter. Invest in a fan and a heater which is handy to have in Texas regardless. Bug problem during the rainy days, of course it’s Houston lol. Flies were able to come in through a closet where the water heater was so they put a trash bag over the door which helped but I got some bug traps, you’ll need those sewage gnats too again, it’s Houston and it is humid. Bees were in my ceiling but that’s not their fault. The rent was raised 3 times in the 3 years I lived there, it may go up again. The laundry room has 2 working washing machines and two dryers for the whole complex. If anything happens to them, you have to contact a third party and they take days to come so make sure the machine works before you put clothes in. Now, about the location. The complex is in a great location, 5 minute walk from the red line, 15-20 min ride to downtown or the museums each way and it is very safe the houseless won’t bother you if you don’t bother them. There’s tons to walk to too. There’s a CVS and Walgreens nearby. Food places, all different types. Gas station, a dollar store popped up. There was a Whole Foods, hopefully they put another grocery store there. A gym, 24 hour fitness. A dog park, watch out for the poop owners leave. Now, there’s a gate and a gate code. Parking is tight but manageable. It’s very quiet at night so no worries there. I really enjoy living there for a couple of years. If you can get passed all that, it’s a okay place…better than the streets or a super 8. It definitely has character and the inside is updated with new appliances, floors, shelves, drawers, remodeled bathroom, remodeled kitchen, there’s even a built in desk. My brother called it a house for short people because he’s 6’4 and would hit his head on the roof walking up the stairs to the second floor lol. Hopefully they add more washing machines in the future upgraded ones that clean your clothes thoroughly and dryers that dry your clothes all the way and they get two dumpsters, the one dumpster fills up so quickly. I will miss this place but I’m glad I moved. Shoutout to Marc! He’s still the best landlord ever! Shoutout to the best maintenance dude with long hair! We had cool conversations. Oh! And the neighbors are friendly too!
I have nothing but great things to say about Marc Littell and his team. I lived at his Commonwealth Property for almost 4 years, and he, his maintenance team, and office staff went above and beyond to make sure my stay was comfortable. I recently moved, but I definitely wouldn't hesitate to return to any of his properties. Marc Littell sets the standard for how a landlord should operate their properties, and interact with their tenants.
I have lived at this complex in 2013-2014 and have happily returned in 2016-2017. Mark Littell is a very personal, understanding and professional Owner of these properties. He is always there to gracefully, smooth out and fix anything at the drop of a dime & with no complaints. Not to mention everyone is so welcoming and are friendly within the complex as well. If there is a unit you are interested in within Littell Properties- don't miss out on a great place to live!
Getting ready to move but I've really enjoyed my stay here. Quite, inexpensive and efficient. The staff is very effective when necessary but otherwise relaxed and non-intrusive. The prices are very low for this area and it appears that Mark the owner is re-investing what small profit he does back into the property. In my time here I have seen 6-8 units completely stripped and re-built. New walls, floors , ceilings, fixtures and appliances. A hot water boiler rebuild I have endless hot water now. A gas main replacement. A parking lot re-pavement. A complete roof re-lining and seal. New security locks and cameras. The point is, he's has improved the property and the rent is still low. Now I'm not a dummy. I understand what he is doing. As renters in the 'old style' units move out, he re-builds to modern standards and rents at a slightly higher rent to ensure full occupancy. Once, at some point in the future, all of the units have been rebuilt, THEN the rent will double and this quite, efficient little place will become a new hot trendy spot for upper end college students to live and insult the President of these United States. For now though, it's still a decent place to stay.
Littell Properties was fantastic for the entire time I lived there. They do everything by the book in a good way and offer an affordable and nice place to live in an area where rents are traditionally much higher. Never had an issue living at one of their properties.
Really disappointed in trying to get a hold of the realtor. Over a week just to have a conversation and set up an appointment to look at an apartment. When I finally set it up, only to receive a phone call the apt has already been taken!! If they learned on how to communicate well, we wouldnt of encountered this situation. Mind you.. I called the 18th when the apt was posted on their website.
I have lived here for about three years and very happy... it is very affordable... maintenance is very quick at responding to calls...and mark the owner seems to know everyone on a first name basis.... I’m sad to leave but I’m moving out of town... if you are looking for a great spot in the museum district/Montrose area I would highly suggest Littell
This group is great! I always feel so supported by them. Replies quickly, tends to requests in a timely manner and offers great communication.
The owners are absolutely amazing people. They truly care about each person, interaction, and experience and it shows.
Great property owner. If I needed something repaired they would do it quickly. Very friendly service. I highly recommend!
