This is a great old school place to get your chinease food, portions are really BIG and the food has lots of flavor, fried rice good, lo mein good, and egg rolls are nice and crispy. Is only for pick up and you will be wait around 15 to 20 minutes, sometimes line is big. I will give them a better rate, but their location is surrounded by lots of homeless and shady people.
So this place is literally a hole in the wall! This place is priced right! Lunch dishes are $10 and come with your choice of entree fried rice egg roll and wonton. Dinner is about $14 they do charge .85¢ to use credit card. But the food is solid and since the first time I tried it I have been craving it! The sesame chicken is fire! I have also tried the sweet n sour chicken also really good. My wife usually will not eat cheap Chinese because she says it's grey meat! She loves this place. The fried rice is very good! Oh and last thing is. This place is take out only there is no place to sit and eat. It is take away only! Also the wait is usually about 20 minutes or a little longer. But like most good things they are worth the wait especially for the price!! Parking: It's basically just street parking and not much of it so please be patient. Everyone is there because the food is good no need to cause an issue because sometimes it's kinda like a traffic jam around there.
In my opinion, Liyuen is a bit above average compared to other Chinese food spots you'd find in any urban city. However, a couple of significant drawbacks make it unlikely that I'll return. The wait time, both before and after ordering, was excessive. Additionally, there was no shade while waiting outside, which made the experience particularly uncomfortable. the order process is that after you order ; They write a random number on your receipt for the cooks & hand you a tag with the same number & you wait for it until you hear it via their speaker close to the same window you ordered from. On a Sunday afternoon, I waited 30 minutes for a two-item order under the hot Phoenix sun. This made me wonder if the food would live up to the hype. Unfortunately, while the food was decent, it wasn't exceptional enough to justify the wait. For me, Liyuen is a "one and done" kind of place. I ordered Orange Chicken combo + Mongolian beef Large Pros and cons of my visit: Pros: - Slightly above average food quality - Great food portions - Straight to the point friendly staff - Accepts Cash & Debit [looked like tap to pay was available] Cons: -Parking practically parking in the neighborhood down the street - Long wait times pre- and post-ordering - Lack of shade while waiting outside - Cost is getting close to a point where I would rather sit in at a restaurant. $30 for two people without drinks
So I'll start by saying that I had this a long time ago when I was a small child. But I don't remember it well. I decided to come here because of the great reviews both on Google Reviews and Yelp. I have also heard from everyone in this area that this is one of the best "hole in the wall" places in South Central Phoenix. One thing that honestly shocked me was how much the food was. Their official site has their prices as literally HALF or LESS than their current prices. I really hope the owners will update the prices online. Second, all their food is wonderful. You get a lot of good per plate. What I got, my family of 5 probably ate 20 percent of it. We definitely have a lot of leftovers. We spent a little over $100 for all the food shown. We got: Orange Chicken Sesame Chicken Teriyaki Chicken Chicken and Broccoli Honey Spicy Chicken Pork Fried Rice Chicken Fried Rice White Steamed Rice Spring rolls Egg Rolls Crab Puffs no crab or imitation crab, just the cream cheese/mascarpone cheese It was about a 20 minute wait or so for the food. The service was great, employees were kind. I will definitely be coming back here again!
This was Some of the best food I've had in a long time the Jalapeno chicken wings it's what I ordered And they did not disappoint. Also, the chicken fried rice. Was right on point? It had authentic flavors. I can taste the Fish sauce inside
FYI for all the newbies...This is the ACTUAL flyers they price from as of 9/15/2024, the ones online are nowhere near accurate. Also they don't always complete orders in turn. I've had six people get their food ahead of me and this is important to note because there is no indoor seating in the building. There is no seating available and no shade. it's a walk up and order window. and I'm still waiting... I'm trying to be patient but we're really really hungry ... One star for Service And one star for atmosphere!! It's too hot to be waiting outside smelling everyone's body odor waiting on these $18.99 combo plates!! We buy for our family of 7 whenever we come here but I think this might be our last time spending good money waiting for some courtesy from Liyuens!! Seriously we come here often enough and it's always the same service and the food is hit and miss BUT you know who does have good service, good food and is way cheaper with indoor seating? its New Garden three minutes away... They won't give you dry crusty rice and empty rangoons after you waited almost 45mins for your meal!! Parking: The parking is horrible, glass and trash everywhere. Bad drivers. Street parking. Kid-friendliness: No Kid menu. No sit down area. No covered patio. No restrooms for customers. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a driveway slope you might be able to get up to the side walk on if there aren't any cars parked in the way. There isn't any specific handicapped parking available. And the parking offered is off the side of a busy street.
Large portions and food is tasty! They had great customer service as well. Will definitely be returning!Food: 5/5
The food was super tasty and I will be back. The location is not in the best neighborhood and parking is not good! When I went to grab my order the lady was quick to shut the window when I was asking a question .Food: 5/5
This place doesn’t play! I have gone to multiple places looking for this kind of flavor, I don’t go anywhere else but here now! You WILL wait 20-30 minutes for your food with no where to sit. This is not a sit down kind of place but just know the food makes up for it. I have never had any issues in this area but it’s definitely not the best. For 2 people to eat it’s about 30 dollars, I feel like everyone is around that price for take out l. Parking it’s a bit difficult. I’ve came here 4+ times and food has been good every time. Try it out!!
It's the best Chinese food around! Delicious and generous portions! Fast service. It's just a walk up order window though. I'll keep coming back though for the food! Wheelchair accessibility: It's a window you walk up to. No doors, but no seating either. Order, wait, take food when called.
