Lucali is a gem in the heart of Brooklyn! The ambiance is cozy and inviting, perfect for a date night or a casual dinner with friends. The pizza here is simply out of this world—thin, crispy crust with fresh, high-quality toppings that make each bite a delight. The classic margherita is a must-try, and the calzone is equally impressive, oozing with cheesy goodness. The staff is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall great experience. The wait might be a bit long, but trust me, it's worth every minute. If you're in New York and love pizza, Lucali should definitely be on your list.
The best pizza is USA. Enough said! They have seasonal pasta as well OMG the best pasta ever. This is a place worth travelling to - from a different country or state. Worth the two hour wait in line. Memorable! The crust is light, airy and crispy. The sauce was just right to give the tartness and juiciness and flavor. The sauce is made fresh from from ingredients grown in their own garden. They actually pour hot sauce on pizza with generous amount of fresh basil. The cheese was perhaps the best part. Three types of cheeses and just the right amount. Cheesy enough and light enough. We felt light after eating an over the top meal. This is what you live for Thin crust Calzone with mushroom and pepper sauce - though amazing was still behind pizza and pasta.
Worth the hype and start queuing from 2 pm to get your preferred time. grab a drink and pop up the chair and enjoy while waiting. Ask for specials as our visit had a pasta which was greatFood: 5/5
The pizza at this place was worth the long wait. I had a chance to compare it with another famous pizza place in Brooklyn Luigi’s. The crust at this place was superior, as it was made from high-quality bread. Although Luigi’s was also very good. My family has a long tradition owning bakeries in West London, so I know good bread when I taste it. The sauce at this place was decent, but the other place had more flavour. The basil leaves were whole, which looked nice, but I would have preferred them chopped and spread on the pizza. Next time, I might try a different topping. One thing that disappointed me was that the owner of this place was not there to greet his customers. The owner of the other place, on the other hand, was very friendly and chatty. He cooked my pizza himself and told me his story. I appreciated his personal touch. This place had a cool BYOB policy, which made the experience more fun. The service was also excellent. Overall, I enjoyed the pizza at this place and I would recommend it.
Excellent pizza. I'm not really sure how this place does it rolling the dough out with a wine bottle... Is what I would think you shouldn't do crushing the air bubbles. A wood fired oven for NY dough? But this pizza is a hit. And the calzone was equally tasty with thin crust and I think ricotta and mozzarella. Everything just worked. Really enjoyed the ambiance. The staff were incredibly nice. Would definitely come back here
Actually insane how good this place is. Tried the pizzas and calzone — phenomenal!! The hype speaks for itself. The waiting process is pretty crazy but luckily we had great friends that lived nearby that were able to line up early and get a table. Super cozy inside and it’s BYOB. There are a few liquor stores nearby so that’s pretty nice. All the good food without overpriced alcohol — they know they only need to focus on their pizzas and calzone! I would say it takes a lot of effort to go here but it’s definitely worth it if you’re a huge pizza fan or want to try one of the best pizzas in NYC. I’d definitely return! They do take to-go orders as well.
I first heard about Lucali Pizza in YouTube. Was super excited to visit the place and get the experience. I went to the place at around 3 pm and they had not opened at that time, after waiting for more than an hour they started taking down names on the reservation list. When you get on the list they would assign a time slot based on the availability. Since i went there by myself i was able to get an outdoor table within 30 minutes. The pizza size is large enough for 2 people, it was too much for a single person, but i thoroughly loved the pizza. Would definitely return when i can, and i must say it was one of the best pizza i had till date.
Pizza is very good but there is no reason to wait on line for it for over 45 minutes. There simply are other options in NY and although those options may not be better than Lucali, the quality of Lucali is not so much higher than the other options that it warrants any wait over 45 minutes. On a Wed afternoon there was already a line for the wait-list at 3:40pm of about 20 people. This reached 30 ppl by 4pm. At around 4:15pm we reached the staff at the front and she gave us a table for 2 ppl at 5pm. We could leave and come back at 5. So all in all the wait was not terrible, especially since you could leave and come back. Pizza was very good. Tomato sauce excellent. Love the fresh basil although I haven't seen stems included with the basil before as they do here. Got mushrooms on half the pie and did not regret it. Mushroom was very fresh. Small calzone $19 with garlic $3 also very good. Overall very pleased with the experience but there is absolutely no way I'd wait 3 hours like some people have mentioned. 30 min wait? Sure I'd do it again.
Look, I love pizza and I also grew up in Brooklyn going to L&Bs, DiFaras, Totonos, Patsys in East Harlem, and the other greats. Lucali has definitely won my heart in terms of my favorite pizza in NYC hands down. It’s very much worth the chaotic wait which feels like a bit of an initiation. Came here to put my name down around 3:15 for a table around 8. I’d highly recommend picking a nice red wine since the place is BYOB. Do yourself a favor and get a simple pie of pizza no toppings and a calzone with garlic. You really taste the quality and why this place deserves the fame they get. Looking forward to the next time I come here!
This is a pizza place. I never understand why people hype up certain pizza places, it’s not difficult to make a good pizza. That being said, the pizza here is quite good. Although I’m sure you can find something eerily similar close by without the 3 hour long wait line for the ~possibility~ of a table. It’s great but… it’s pizza! Thanks Beyoncé!!
