I like to use these reviews as an opportunity to support good local businesses. In this case, I cannot. As a former client of Bryan and Lux, I can say I’ve never felt more disrespected or betrayed by anyone I did business with. I returned home to damages that seemed far beyond normal wear and tear and Bryan refused to take any responsibility. Worse than that, he acted as though he would, stringing me along for months with false promises to make things right and in the end doing nothing. I’ve seen another review here mention the term”gaslighting,” which seems apt. He allowed two large dogs into our pet free home, saying only after the fact they were service animals, but provided no evidence to that effect, and I have no reason to believe they were. I later felt threatened and coerced into removing a previous version of this poor review, and I anticipate the same again. I offer this review only as an honest account of my experience and expect to gain nothing by leaving it save piece of mind that there is some small amount of accountability for such awful conduct. I have found Bryan Wester‘s behavior to be dishonest and unprofessional. If you find yourself in business with Lux or Bryan, I recommend you get everything in writing and do not trust his word. In my experience it has been worthless.

Rarely do I leave bad reviews as my goal isn't to hurt businesses. However, my experience with this company was egregious from the start and I feel it is my duty to warn others from being poorly treated and scammed like I was. I met Bryan for a tour of one of their properties and he arrived 30 minutes late without so much as an apology. In my search for a rental, I mentioned that I was recovering from a serious injury and that I was sensitive to noise. Bryan neglected to tell me the house I rented was directly under a flight path. The night prior to signing the lease, I noticed the advertised "nonrefundable fee" had increased from $300 to $500. When I confronted Bryan about this, he attempted to gaslight me by stating this change was made months prior. This is obviously another ploy to scam people out of their money - it is standard practice to request refundable security deposits, not exorbitant nonrefundable fees. Upon moving in, the trash bins were overflowing and there were issues with the toilet not flushing and the shower not draining. When I mentioned this to Bryan, he said he would stop by to take a look - he did not show up or attempt to reschedule. I didn't hear from his company for three weeks - they texted me one week prior to my lease end. What a joke. Again, no apology or accountability. Furthermore, the mattresses in this house were very uncomfortable. This is unacceptable when you are charging top of market price of $4k/mo. If you are a homeowner looking for a property management company and want your house to be maintained and cared for, look elsewhere. If you are a renter, there are much better options in Portland. There was nothing "lux" about this experience.

Bryan and his team have done a fantastic job managing my home as a rental when I am traveling. When we discovered the furnace was out during a guest's week long stay, Bryan brought in heaters and helped the guest stay comfortable while I figured out a way to get the heat up and running again. He worked closely with me to schedule and complete the repairs, in between my visit home, the holidays and planning for future guests' comfort. It's been a great working relationship with Lux, Bryan and their team. I greatly appreciate the responsiveness and professionalism and look forward to working together.

Bryan has been an absolute hero with managing our properties. He's fixed difficult plumbing issues in both our Airbnb and mid-term rentals very quickly and has continued to garner 5-star reviews from our guests. We're living abroad and can't imagine trying to manage our properties without Bryan's expertise and amazing service. Highly recommended!

Bryan and his team at Lux have made my life so much easier since they began managing my property. I had to hire them somewhat quickly to leave town for a few months to help family and they came in, heard my needs, and got things set up with very little needed from me. As a visual person, I can be overly picky about visual presentation, but Bryan clearly is a visual person too. He got everything styled and photographed to look better than I’d hoped. When I came back and checked on the place between guests, everything was perfectly clean and styled to a t and even the plants were watered and happy. While gone I was constantly amazed at how things that came up with the house and renters were so easily taken care of by Lux and I really could let go of worry in that facet of my life. I’m so thankful for all of their help. I use them both to manage a flex rental house and an adu AirBNB short term rental. I highly recommend the experience of working with Lux to manage your rental space.

Bryan and I have worked together under many capacities over the past year and a half. He is the most attentive and thorough property managers out there.
