My first time trying "mead", had no idea what it even was but first time I tasted it and it was wonderful. Reminded me of a very smooth wine, not overly sweet but not dry either. I really loved the lavender lemonade and blueberry flavors. Spice was also amazing but more of a fall drink. I would highly recommend for someone to come here, as a tourist I was so happy I stumbled across this. The server Aaron was very pleasant as well. I am happy that they ship also, I will be ordering more.
RUN don’t walk to this place, as they’re tragically closing in January ‘23. If you haven’t had mead before, it’s almost a mix between beer, wine, and cider, but made with honey instead of wheat, grapes or apples/fruit. This place makes some delicious mead and certainly the best in the surrounding areas and likely the whole northeast, based on the medals they won.
We LOVED this place! If you like mead or if your unsure if you will like mead you should definitly stop by. I love mead and have tried many different meadaries and this is one of my top 5 for sure. They do a great job with their flavors here and don't make them sickeningly sweet. Austin who was working the counter was so nice and very knowledgeable about everything. Loved the whole experience from start to finish.
Best Mead tasting experience! Most meads I've tried just taste like beer with an overpowering hops flavor. These actually had a nice honey aftertaste that was delightful and what I would expect from a Mead. The lavender lemonade is a nice change that reminds me of spring. I prefer a little sweeter ones and really enjoyed their semi-sweet as well. Staff was very helpful and took the time to see what we liked to make some recommendations that were spot on!
Austin was the best! Excellent customer service and very knowledgeable! He provided a great overview of the types of mead and was just a delight; we love you, Austin. The Apple Cyser was my favorite; I definitely will be back.
I stopped in here on a Saturday while visiting Portland. its nestled in between a brewery and what appeared to be a distillery but had some nice tables outside with heaters. There was a good selection of mead, hot and cold, as well as sweet and dry. The prices were reasonable and the flavors were good. A little dangerous with the alcohols content with how easy they are to drink! I'd recommend a stop in!
Very friendly service. The Mead tasted great. I'm not a fan of the dryer meads, especially their blueberry. However the sparking meads were excellent. We did a tasting and our server was very attentive, giving us the history of each one. Don't be afraid of the Habanero lime. The tingle in your throat is worth it.
If you have never had mead, now is the time to try it out. The blueberry mead, their bestseller, is outstanding. They also have a hot cider mead that is perfect for the cooler fall weather.
The oldest type of alcohol, Maine Mead Works does a great job of showcasing traditional mead with really cool flavors. We had a tasting and went home with a pack of the Chai mead. Unique flavor but it goes down so smoothly with hints of tea and cardamom. We even got a quick look behind-the-scenes at the small production facility at the back of the warehouse. Everything is batched in-house, and the quality is excellent.
A meadery with... Mead slushy whaaat! Truly we live in the future, this is a really great spot not to miss. The slushy is worth a try but I'd prefer the regular liquid Mead normally. Nothing like a local honey drink for a warm spring or summer day!
