Not for hypermobility or EDS issues! Took my daughter here, people were friendly enough at the front desk. The website mentions Ehlers-Danlos so I took my daughter here for her hypermobility. I primarily took her here wanting a regimen she could work at home and was clear about this in the introductory meeting/consultation. After a little over a month I asked my daughter why she was not doing exercises at home, she stated they had only really put her on machines around the office, never explained why it’s important to keep up with a routine with hypermobility/heds keeping to an exercise schedule can help joints so dislocations and subluxations aren’t as frequent in the future and may prolong joint stability and hopefully stave off surgeries a bit longer and it’s hard to stick with a schedule because the patient is in constant pain, with or without exercise - not explained, at all, nor did they teach her any exercises she could do at home. Thinking my daughter is 15 and perhaps exaggerating I popped my head in and asked Casey what exercises she could do at home, if they had a list, print-off, or something electronic they could send. We were told to ‘google it’. Not only that, he walked away to speak with a colleague about something quite humorous, to them at least, and she was left alone, which is not smart because hypermobile patients should be watched much like elderly people - balance which they knew she has an issue with is a huge obstacle and dislocations/subluxations are frequent among the patients. That basically said to me, ‘We don’t care about the patient, we care about your money’. Needless to say I took her out. If they aren’t going to help improve the quality of her vary challenging life ahead then why am I paying them? I believe I should get back the money I had already spent there and not have to pay the rest of the bill. On top of that they most certainly should not be claiming to help people with heds/eds on the website. I wish I could rate lower than one star. An utterly ridiculous waste of time and money.
I love the therapist that work with me. I'm a big baby when it comes to pain. Jordan, Sam, and Casey at the 90th St location have stretched me. They know when to push and when to back off. I'm grateful for having them on my side while recovering from knee replacement surgery.
I've been going to physical therapy for awhile. First it was for my knee. Than Jordan Makovica told me about dry needling for my migraines. So I decided to try it. It helps release some of the ease off my migraines. I would definitely recommend this place. The staff is GREAT!!
I have worked with several therapists at Makovicka and they each take their time to answer my questions completely. I want to understand what each exercise will do and how it will help me in my healing journey. Great attitudes and a very comfortable atmosphere. Everyone is friendly. I am very happy with the PT I am receiving!
Makovicka Physical Therapy is a very knowledgeable, professional & fun environment where one can be confident that they are in good hands in their recovery. To date I have been to physical therapy 3 times in my life and this is by far the best experience I have had. I look forward to going to my PT appointments because I know that I am being treated by experts who have me on the quickest path to full functionality!
The team of therapists, techs, interns and office staff are stellar at the N. 90th location. I have had two rehab experiences; initially for a torn meniscus and later for rehab after a total knee replacement. I came in limping and moving very slowly with the meniscus tear and after several dedicated weeks of specific exercises the result was dramatic as I walked out with no limp and a regular gait. I did not require meniscus surgery. I knew I would be back to this location if I ever needed it. Currently I am in week six of physical therapy following surgery from a total knee replacement. The Director of this location, Jordan Makovicka, is one of the most adeptly skilled and knowledgeable Physical Therapists I have ever met. I ask countless questions and he provides answers and suggestions in user friendly terms. He is completely committed to patient care getting to know both the individual while focusing on continual incremental improvement in the injured joint. I started like all TKR patients with a stiff, swollen and immobile leg and I have been able to consistently improve strength, endurance, and range of motion. In addition, to understanding the application of exercise based on the injury he also understands the patient is human and pushes you but with empathy. In addition to Jordan, the entire team of techs, Nolan, Michael, Samantha and intern Jennifer know me and can guide me through my exercise routine. They are friendly, easy to talk with and knowledgeable. And you can not beat the friendly greeting from the office staff as both Mindy and Leslie call you by name, offer you coffee, mints and work with your calendar to get scheduled. It is a very positive work out environment. Through a gradual increase in exercises which Jordan provides guidance on what I do at home to exercise as well I am scheduled to walk out of therapy in a few weeks with a full range of motion for all my daily activities which will include bicycling, walking, swimming and golf. Thanks to Jordan and the team I feel my future looks bright. I would encourage you to consider using this location for therapy if you want both the best possible care as well as some of the most likeable people you could met. They really are exemplary.
Was diagnosed with a pinched nerve in my upper back. Options were physical therapy, cortisone shot or surgery. Glad i chose Makovicka for my physical therapy. After 3 weeks pain is gone! Jordon and the rest of the crew were great! Thanks!
I went to North 90th Street with an intermittent condition , a bit embarrassed because at the moment, the pain had disappeared. Regardless, they listened intently, examined my neck and didn’t make me feel like a fuddy duddy old woman . They made suggestions to correct my posture, sent me home with some exercises to do and welcome me back each week to check on my progress. They are professional and personable. Coleen 1-27-21
I was rear-ended, and had been seeing a chiropractor to correct my whiplash and back, but it wasn't until I started working with the crew on 90th street that I really started to heal. They worked me hard, stretched me out, and were really so great. I am now discharged and feel strong again. Thanks Chelsea and "He-Jordan", and Mindi!
This facility is the greatest! Friendly staff making you feel welcomed and not just a number. The therapists are knowledgeable and ready to do what it takes to make you feel better! I highly recommend Makovicka Physical Therapy North!!!
