Mamie African Hair Braiding

I went to Mamie Hair braiding yesterday 2 /5/ 2024 and I am very please with service I received. I was watching the other stylist braid and everyone can braid on the same level.. Highly recommended

Definitely never going back. I went to this establishment before. So I thought that I would just go to them again. First their pricing is extremely expensive especially for simple knotless braids they wanted $250. Braids that’s usually cost $180. Their customer service sucks and they talk more than anything and their very passive aggressive. Anyway I got my hair braided on May 1st! It’s been seven days and my hair has been itching more than anything. It’s normal for the hair to itch but because they are extremely cheap and the quality of hair that they use has to be the cheapest even though their charging people excessively. My hair would not stop itching. I used oil, leave in conditioner, ice and my hair would not stop itching. I wanted to know if I was just allergic to the hair but my scalp hasn’t had any flare ups. The hair is just cheap and old. The exterior packaging of the hair was blue, I’ve gotten my hair braided multiple times and I’ve never seen that packaging of hair before. DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR DONE AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT GO ELSE WHERE. Not worth the discomfort!!!Service: Hairstyling

Got my hair braided Saturday I believe paid 220 for something that's worth 150 to me...They're knotless braids pass hip length is 250 & UP. I came with my own hair My braids are not full I don't even know how to style it for it to fit my face by how thin these braids are looks like she rushed it I could've really went to a home based hair stylist and got exactly what I wanted for less

NOT EVEN A FULL DAY LATER AND MY BRAID CAME OUT, FROM THE ROOT!!! I’ve been here a few times but after my last visit I will never come back again. The owner is very rude, and majority of the braiders are too because they talk about people. They made me feel uncomfortable. Also, I feel they would finish people’s hair quicker if they weren’t always talking or having phone convos. Literally 5-6 different people touched my hair and I still sat in that salon for NINE hours!! One girl started to blow dry my hair. Then she sent me to another girl to start my box braids. A little girl came in who had an appointment so they sent me to another girl who worked on it for the remainder while the girl who was doing my box braids did her hair. At one point, the owner came to braid down the ends because it was like hour SEVEN and the girl is still parting and braiding only the top part of my hair … not to mention the braiding was so TIGHT, they were laughing because I was ‘tender-headed’. So I asked the lady will she be done by 8 because it was a little after 7 and she should’ve been done.. She says no probably 8:30. 8:30 comes and she’s STILL parting and braiding a SMALL section mind you I told her I didn’t want the parts so small so now I have MAD hair on my head. This whole time I haven’t ate, haven’t drank anything. So I get up to tell her I’m going next door for the atm. I come back and ask if she’s working tomorrow morning, I expressed I been here 8 hours and you’re still not done. That’s when the owner and everyone chimed in like helpers are coming now which they should’ve been helping HOURS ago.. because how y’all helping do other people’s hair who got here after me? And their hair was done at least 1-2 hours before mine not to mention there’s like 9 braiders in there. At this point it’s like 8:45 and there’s 3 people working on my hair pulling it every which way and it hurts bc they braided so tight. The girl who was braiding my hair for hours leaves as someone else is snippin the fly away hair. Then when she’s done, another person comes and does the mousse and hot water. I was so upset/angry I was crying and they literally just looked in my face and was talking smack instead of bettering their customer service. I paid $200 for the same style I paid $160 for the last time. When I left, the only nice lady in there gave me two business cards, apologized, and says they owe me next time. Even though I appreciate the kind gesture, this place will NEVER get my business again.

Never again in my life !!! I wish I didn't even have to give it one star. I wasn't going to comment at all until one of my braids came out along with my hair! This place is the definition of a hair salon that doesn't take care of your hair, or care for their customers just the money. This was my first time going here and my last time going here, I made an appointment for 11am, they didn't start my hair until 12pm, I didn't leave the shop til 730pm. The lady that was doing my hair kept pulling my scalp, it hurt so bad I had to take 4 Tylenol that day. I went home and cried, I had to put my head under cold water and put ice in my head just to help the pain, the next day I started getting bumps in my head. I could feel my skin pulled, it hurt so bad when I touched my head and hair, that I just left it, I didn't want to move my head or any movement involving my head, I couldn't sleep for three days. And then finally, 5 days is when the pain become tolerable , I put my head down to put my hair in a ponytail just to tie it back and finally that braid that was holding on to my edges just come out along with my hair, and I have a bold spot in my head! Never again!!! I was trying to help my hair with braids and make it grow, instead these braids are literally pulling my hair out! I paid $140 and I took them out in 5 days because of pain and my hair breaking off! Don't not go here, go anywhere else, but here !! I was so mad I thought about suing, and getting a refund!! Never again!!!! Do not go here !! Terrible !!!

I would've gave a 5 star if the lady wouldn't have braided my hair tight like I requested multiple times. She did a great job but the braids are extremely too tight as to where I can't even turn my head, i am in pain. I repeatedly told her not too tight. They need to work on better customer service as well.

I’ve been going to this shop for a while because I usually walk out satisfied. However, the last time I went the girl braided my hair so tight I couldn’t go anywhere for 4 days. It physically made me sick. I decided to go back but just wouldn’t let her touch my head. The complaint I have about this ship is their lack of professionalism. They talk more than they braid and you wait 2-3 hours before they even touch your hair. Their prices are also never consistent so you have no clue how much you are paying for the same style you got previously. Unfortunately, I will definitely be looking for another shop to give my business to.

Their customer service is HORRIBLE. They will have you sitting there for hours if you aren’t a regular. I walked into the shop after callin on the phone and arranging a price for what I wanted. When I got there I was told to sit down and wait. My son and I waited for 2 hours so I changed my mind on what I wanted. When I finally sat in the chair and told her what I wanted she got an attitude which made me ask am I not allowed to do that? She then told me the other hairstyle was 160 I asked her to give me my original hairstyle and she told me it would be 160. I then told her that’s not what was said on the phone she told me I didn’t speak to her so I got angry and stormed out then a lady came out to talk to me but at this point I am fed up and would never go there again.. if you are new to the shop DO NOT GO because u will be pushed to the back of the line and u will see people come in after u and leave before you even start
