The interior and vibe is really cool. Lots of folks were working on their laptops and there were a few rooms and a nice patio—lots of seating options. I ordered one of the special drinks, a raspberry mocha. It was seven fudging dollars!! I know that life is expensive, especially in Portland, but that is just WILD. And I ordered some sort of cheesy slipper which was delicious but also…SEVEN DOLLARS. When my name was called for us to get our drinks, my friend asked, “which is the mocha and which is the soy cappuccino?” To which the barista replied, very salty, “The mocha is the one that looks like a mocha and the soy cappuccino is this one.” RUDE. I also watched a woman go up to the counter to ask about her food—she said they’d been waiting for quite a long time for an open-faced sandwich. She also received a rude reply about the kitchens being separate coffee shop vs cafe and dismissed her. I don’t think I’ll be back here unless I bring a wheelbarrow of pennies and they suddenly aren’t at the top of a massive hill. Not worth the incline or the salty staff. What a shame!
Cozy little cafe tucked away that’s perfect for locals. Clean and plenty of seating. Food is fresh and made with quality ingredients. Great selection of in house baked pastries would come back just for these. And of course great coffee.Food: 5/5
A super cozy café with excellent latte. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating, including chairs and benches. The staff were nice and friendly.Food: 5/5
Such a delightful welcoming vibe! Love that they have restored the gardens, added more outdoor and indoor seating yet kept the cozy feel. Delish menu and tea options. Friendly service. We’ll be back. Food: 5/5
I love maplewood coffee! It is such a cute little converted house in the neighborhood. The food is always fresh and delicious, and their coffee and tea selections are great. The staff is also very kind and accommodating. The only con is they get busy very fast. I would recommend going on a weekday over a weekend.Food: 5/5
So much soup I could hardly sop it up with all the focaccia! Soup of the day was artichokes and other things, absolutely superb spice mixture Focaccia had a texture like an airy cake, with flakes of salt and herbs adorning My plant based breakfast prayers were answered this morning!!
A delightful find. Stopped by for a drink and we were pleasantly surprised by the menu and plentiful seating. We were instantly greeted by the scent of something delicious in the air. Customer service was top notch, friendly smiles and helpful to newcomers. I had the ginger peach tea and it was very satisfying and flavorful. We didn’t know that they had food and we had already eaten elsewhere but next time we’ll stop by and try their menu items. The food looked so good. I can’t wait to go back. It is very comfortable; I can see why customers enjoy the space as a place for inspiration and ideas for their work and art. This is a GREAT place to meet for a first date in the day time. It’s romantic and has a variety of seating options inside and out. We even saw friendly little flower bouquets available on the front steps ; There’s a walking trail head nearby as well. We didn’t have any trouble finding parking but keep in mind that it is nestled in a residential neighborhood so you might need to walk a block or two on busy days. But that’s ok. Walking is good for you. Update: we went back and both tried the garden bagel. It was delicious. The micro greens complimented all of the other flavors and textures perfectly.
Good outdoor seating, good indoor seating, and a nice feel in a converted home. I also love the location being tucked away in a neighborhood away from everything. Polite and friendly staff, good food and drinks, and good atmosphere - will definitely return regularly A bit unconventional, but they have the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had
Cute coffee shop, good food and drinks, borderline hostile environment. I spent ~$25 on a bagel sandwich and coffee drink spent extra, gave good tip in hopes to relax at a coffee shop and get a little bit of work done. Yes, it’s definitely a crowded spot, but there was an empty table next to me. I plugged in at my computer and at 55 minutes in the building I was told that they ask that people only stay for an hour. Just not my hope for a coffee shop. I understand trying to make more money and get more bodies in and out, but bad customer service in my book. Between my spending and a huge gift card I was given because I loved the place so much! I think I spent >$300 at this place over a few months. And sadly I won’t be going back. All about expectations though. If you’re truly in and out, would be a great spot. Also, they had a fall veggie sandwich that sadly rotated out but was phenomenal. Drinks are yummy, especially with the homemade syrups. Food 4.5 stars.
What a little find! Nestled between trees in an quaint neighborhood. A beautiful historic home has been converted to a coffeehouse. Gorgeous inside! Calm atmosphere and music. Plenty of seating for larger gatherings and twosomes. Outdoor seating as well when the weather cooperates. Unique drinks and food with a nice variety. Will cater to meat, vegan, gluten free and in between. Friendly staff. Glad to make it here and I’ll be back.
