Such a charming little French bakery. The staff is super nice and the service is quick. The croissants are to die for and the coffee is great. One of the best things about this spot is the indoor dining area. It’s big! Very easy to find a little nook and get some work done. They have some outdoor seating as well if it’s a nice day. Super busy corner in the city so you get some great people watching.
I throughly enjoyed this place! I got my stuff to go, but the Ham & cheese croissant was DELICIOUS! It was a very buttery and flaky croissant. I also enjoyed the donut holes. They were really soft with a yummy filling. The staff was helpful too.
This place checks all the boxes that should make this a great mainstay, a go-to on this side of town - great tasty selection, always fresh, clean dining area yes, they do have a spacious indoor seating and several tables for outdoor enjoyment, delivery, ongoing promo of “buy 3 get 1 free of the same pastry,” and this place even participate in the TooGoodToGo program at certain times of the day, and they open early, too. You can have your drinks with their many pastry and bread selection. They also actually have prepared food, which is a nice variety. There is a ramp for accessibility, and in the warmer temperatures, there are a few tables outside to sit on, which is great! But sadly I have to knock off stars because one of their staff has consistently been rude and shortwith the patrons. The others have been quick and nice so far, but when you are in a rush and just there to get your morning fix, you cant keep waiting for the other associate to get your order. I have never seen this guy smile at any of the customers. What’s eating you, Grumpy? I would recommend you drop by here, but fair warning
It deserves all the stars - good quality traditional French bakery with even better prices. Great option to grab a sandwich to go and even some coffee. The staff is super friendly and they have a lot of stuff to decide from.
Food was delicious. I had a vanilla chai latte that tasted great and warmed me up nicely. Only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars is that the staff could've been more friendly overall. I'm not sure if that's just how things are around NYC I'm visiting from California, but a little more friendliness would've gone a long way with taking the experience to the next level.
Good French bakery, fresh food and not so expensive. I recommend you visit it
Spinach and feta croissant was good and the chocolate almond croissant was nice and rich. Washed it down with a cold brew.
Great variety of baked goods and pastries from one of the largest bakeries in France the Marie Blachere in NYC by 6th ave & Carmine St & Bleecker St, from the fruit based pastries and tarts to chocolate and almond croissants, to spinach and cheese savories to 4 types of sourdough loaves of bread with natural starter, not too mention coffee and other selections, with baked goods displayed nicely behind glass. I believe everything is baked on-site, and I tried a few pastries, including the cherry yogurt turnover, chocolate croissant, chocolate roll, and 2 plain croissants and they were decent even though I received the too good to go app discounted previous day's selection, and at a ~60% off discounted price. The flour for the baked goods is from France, and the sourdough Viking bread I tried had a whole grain rye flour, regular wheat flour, and oats and seeds on the outside. It was not overly salty and was a decent whole grain, hearty bread. It was discounted 50% and just $2.75 for the 1 pound loaf. This bakery is very well organized, has plenty of seating in an open space with a lot of light, yet still makes high quality fresh baked goods in the French tradition. The Marie Blachere bakeries have a thoughtful system in place to not let food go to waste by offering 50% discounts 30min before closing and during the next day for baked goods not yet sold, as well as plenty of slots for pickup on the too good to go app to pick up each morning right now from 8am-9am for the last day's selection. I had a great sample from one of the largest French bakeries in the world , and pleasant experience!
Wanted a jelly donut but I don't usually like the crusty sugar. Here they have jelly Beignets! So amazing with powdered sugar and a raspberry the clerk said mixed berry, but who's she kidding filling - my favorite! Will absolutely return for those Beignets!
I was looking for a real french bakery in Mahattan. Since covid 19 damaged so many businesses, few french boulangeries are still running. I bought a cranberry tart that looked like more a cranberry flan. So the next day, I bought a crumble apple tart. I was expecting to get an apple sauce apple slices tart. It was good though. Unfortunately I can not put a 5* as they run out of products in middle of the afternoon. Le 'quatre heures' est sacré chez les français!
