I was a client of Dr. Marie Margenau-Spatz for about two years, during which time I faced significant and difficult life transitions. It is no coincidence that I also experienced immense personal and spiritual growth during these years of working with Marie. Marie is not only a fantastic psychologist and EMDR practitioner, but she is also one of the kindest, most genuine, and most compassionate individuals I have ever encountered. Her style is extremely warm, supportive, and encouraging; she truly empathizes with her clients and utilizes an individualized approach that is primarily centered on her clients' goals – rather than what she thinks would be best for her clients. I found myself feeling very empowered by this approach, feeling truly in the driver's seat with my care during our sessions. That said, she is not afraid to challenge clients when needed, though no matter what she says or does, she proceeds with heartfelt compassion – and a warm, healthy sense of humor. Through her unconditional kindness, compassion, and empathy, Marie helped to reflect back to me my own basic goodness, which I had lost touch with. Even though I couldn't see it, she was persistent in her warmth and encouragement and I am forever grateful for the work we've done together. I feel a profound shift in my life and how I view myself, and I know others around me have witnessed this shift as well. I highly recommend Marie for all work – especially relating to trauma, because she is a fantastic EMDR and NLP practitioner with a very intuitive approach. She is truly the best of the best.
I worked with Marie for many, many years. At first, we worked on my anxiety that was debilitating. I was in terrible shape and almost to the point of agoraphobia. Marie worked with me and helped me get my life back. She introduced me with tools that I still use today, they have been ingrained in my daily life and serve me well daily. Once my anxiety was in check, Marie and I worked on some personal relationship issues I was experiencing and again, she worked with me at my comfort level and helped lead me into a healthy relationship. Which then led to marriage and eventually kids! I have depended and grown with Marie and she has helped me live my best life. Marie is the real deal, no matter what you are dealing with, personal issues, work-related issues, anxiety, etc. She will introduce you to the tools that will help you through life. She is my hero and I consider her a lifelong friend as well. If you are struggling with anything, I would highly recommend you meet with her. She WILL help you be your best you!
Since I've been working with Marie, almost 2 years, she has helped to take a broken woman and open her eyes to see her full potential and how truly amazing she is. Without Marie and the techniques, she utilizes, particularly with EMDR, I would not have healed the way I did. EMDR helped so much with the anxiety and increased self-confidence. I honestly don't know where I'd be without Marie!! Everyone should have someone like her in their lives, or just go see Marie!! Thank you for everything!! ADL, UX Designer, NYC
Dr Marie has been a god send to me over the years. Not only helping me with ways to overcome my anxiety and learn better coping mechanisms thru her EMDR and cognitive therapy but also helping me in my marriage and family. Her life coaching has also been instrumental in my obtaining my career and personal growth goals. I highly recommend her. She has changed my life for the better.
Marie Margenau-Spatz is a wonderful EMDR therapist. She is an amazing listening, genuinely, caring and compassionate person and most of all she has had years working with the EMDR protocol and assisting people in healing. She is an approved Consultant approved by the professional organizational EMDRIA and not only assists a person in becoming healed but more importantly becoming a "whole" person who lives and loves and enjoys love to their fulest. I have known Marie for over 15 years and have total confidence in her. My name is Ira Dressner, Ph.D., LCSW and I now live in Phoenix Arizona.
It is with great pleasure that I whole-heartedly recommend Dr. Marie Margenau-Spatz as a highly skilled therapist, life coach, and trainer. It becomes obvious upon meeting Marie that you feel her kind heart, and caring nature. Marie is dedicated to assisting people in creating a clear vision of who they can be, and helping them to attune to, connect with and become that self. She accomplishes this in her skilled use of a variety of classical and modern modalities of treatment. She is also a teacher of a number of these. Some of these modalities are EMDR, Ericksonian Hypnotherapy, NLP, and Imago Relationship Counseling to name just a few. If you want the best search no further! Dr. Margenau-Spatz is a compassionate, intuitive and highly skilled psychologist. She has a kind and effective way of asking questions which unlock information that she then astutely reflects back to me. Using her vast toolbox of techniques, Dr. M creates an environment for change. She gently and responsibly guides me to constructive and healing self reflection and I emerge with positive, self-assured action. I have known Dr. M for 18yrs and her calm demeanor coupled with clarity and strength consistently expand my perception and self-worth. She is a generous trove of good energy. I highly recommend Dr. Margenau-Spatz and I’m confident you will benefit from her expertise. LG Licensed Massage Therapist
I am a psychologist and called Richard Eric Spatz, JD the other night for an office for rent on Craiglist for therapist by Dr. Margenau-Spatz and Richard Eric Spatz, JD. I called his line, but Marie Margenau-Spatz PhD answered. When I gave my name she said it at first said it was available. Then the tone changed to very rude and curt, then she asked my name again, and then claimed we have spoken before, and asked if I had a dog in my office. I usually don’t disclose right that right away, and don’t recall her as I would remember a lawyer and the location, and just started looking, but said, “Yes, but is as service dog, not a pet…” She cut me off, alleged she spoke to me several times, rudely said they don’t accept dogs, other people there have allergies, and “just- no” and hung up on me. Allergies are not an allowed reason to deny a service dog, and mine is hypo-allergenic. Per the Americans with Disability Act it is discrimination to deny someone who has a service dog, and she not only did it, but if is true we talked several times, she admitted to doing it several times. She wouldn’t even let me talk. She was reported to the New York City Commission on Human Rights with a copy of the ad, as her behavior is discrimination and she is being investigated now. This is particularly egregious as a doctor and psychologist, and she should know better, and treat people better. I thought you should know what your doctor is doing. She should be ashamed and you should know how she treats people with disabilities.
