Youth

We don't just help parents and grandparents with child rearing skills, we also offer programs to enrich the lives of our youth. Home assistance, recreation, before and after care, day camp, and cultural enrichment activities like music lessons give children and teenes some excitement and a better chance for success in school.

Individuals and families

The Martin Luther King Community Center provides numerous forms of service and assistance to families and the community through information and referrals for emergency assistance and job readiness and life-skills, computer technology training, adult literacy tutoring, and much more.

Kinship care, senior citizens and adults

From hot lunches to social and recreational activities to support meetings, our programs for senior citizens and adults provide comprehensive services to meet a variety of needs. In Marion County there are 10,000 grandparents raising their grandchildren. And as more grandparents are raising their children’s children than ever before, our supportive activites for these sole guardians and their grandchildren are tapping into unique challenges.

Foundations for the Future

The Foundations for the Future program provides assessment, resume preparation, interviewing, budgeting and time management skills. Microsoft Office software and keyboarding skills. Resume posting, online applications and job searching allow our students to compete for jobs online. The computer lab offers all levels of training from novice to the experienced worker, and all ages seeking to improve upon their skill sets.
