My 10 days experience at the Prentiss House and their customer service was nothing short of amazing! The rooms are very spacious WFH comfortably in my room and the living room, the king bed was very comfortable, the private bathroom was spotless spacious aand with a tub, has a microwave, little fridge, kettle, a very big TV and ample storage with extra towels. The house was recently remodeled in a thoughtful way, it felt welcoming, warm and safe. The location is excellent as well 10min from Red T line and a few bus stops nearby too, close to great restaurants and coffee shops. 100% would recommend and would stay again !
My room was clean and easy to access. The bed was comfortable too. The “staff lite” concept meant there was either limited or no staff on the property. No one to ask about why the heating unit didn’t work or to let know that the outdoor lighting is insufficient at night. The previous owners were always very welcoming. This felt very cold and impersonal.
A wonderful weekend stay in Cambridge. Comfortable and very clean room and lounge. Easy to access with keypad entry. The location was perfect for visiting my student during parents weekend. This will be my top choice for future visits.Rooms: 5/5
Great location, comfortable room and common area, great patio, thoughtful touches. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The entire place was very clean and everything from boiling to check in was really simple. Will definitely stay here again when back in Boston!Rooms: 5/5
I would stay again, but I give it a 4! Pros: incredible location, across the street from Simon's Coffee, wine shop on the corner, Bagelsaurus and the Abbey one block, 10 minutes walk to the T at Porter. Great ambience, character, common space. Sustainability reusable PATH water bottles provided. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. Cons: our room had a small wet bar with mini fridge, but no sponge, kitchen rag, dish soap, paper towels, or kitchen towel for wiping or cleaning anything, and also no forks or spoons available within the room or anywhere in the guesthouse. They do explain that the staff is limited, but was inconvenient because it took us 2 days to get an extra blanket bedding very thin. Also, we chose our room quite specifically based on the website photos, and were never told during the booking process or any time thereafter, that a complete remodel had occurred and that the photos were completely irrelevant we chose our room for the fireplace, which they had removed completely. We chose a room with one king when we would have preferred a room with two beds, but wanted the fireplace. When we did bring it up, there was no financial consolation offered, just an apology, which was nice at least. But it did change the nature of our entire stay. All around we had a lovely stay anyway and I would still highly recommend the Prentiss House. When the staff were present in the mornings, they were very friendly and accommodating.
Efficient booking process. Very clean and comfortable accommodations. Reasonably priced, and welcoming staff! My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Prentiss House, and hope to come back on our next trip to Cambridge.Rooms: 5/5
Beautiful and comfortable accommodations in a very convenient location. We will certainly stay at the Prentiss House again. Not a complaint, but just FYI for the staff. I was told that our room #18 had a refrigerator and it did not. This was not a problem for us, but it could be for others
Amazing location, 10 min to Harvard Sq, 5 min to Porter. Beautiful renovation of historic home, great sized room for the money. Speedy WiFi. Easy to use access code, great patio space. Nice to have parking option right there. The setup is terrific for those working from the hotel and suites are great for those traveling with kids - we had our 8 year old on sofa bed and it didn’t feel cramped which is nice. My only hesitation: we were there during unseasonably warm weather and our heating/cooling unit would not get the room temp lower than 77, which was not comfortable. I saw other rooms with windows open and now see from other reviews that my suspicions were correct and this was an issue for more rooms than just ours. We opened the windows but without screens didn’t want to leave them open all the time and invite bugs in. They couldn’t address it until day three of our stay because we arrived on a weekend. Management assessed the situation and installed a window AC. Unfortunately based on the responses to reviews here it seems that the management response to me was less than truthful: it sounds like they knew it was an issue as they’d turned off their cooling system. I really wish they would have been up front about that with me instead of pretending that somehow we were not understanding how to operate the system. Having lived and worked in older buildings for many years that was what I suspected. I see no reason why they felt the need to obfuscate. At any rate, we appreciated the window AC unit, but again, I’d think twice about staying during the summer, and hope that management can learn to be truthful and up front in the future. Two things would add greatly to the functionality of the room for guests staying more than an overnight: a light in the closet room overhead was dim and closet was in darkest corner of room, and a hook for wet towels in the bathroom. There was one small towel rack which was not sufficient for drying towels for 2, let alone 3 people. Also - no surprise here but the sofa bed isn’t particularly comfortable. My kid ended up folding it back up to sleep on it loveseat style but that’s only an option for the shorter set!
This hotel is perfectly fine, not fantastic. The room was good but not great --- I think the photos are of a similar room upstairs. The first few nights were unseasonably warm, but the heat was on full blast. The "kitchen" advertised on the website is actually a minifridge, a microwave, and an electric kettle, nothing more. There is a decent lounge with a gas fire place, but you will have to dig around to figure out how to turn it on or off; there is a high-end TV display, but no remote control that I could find. The free Nespresso was very nice, except for when the machine's computer thought it was jammed even though it wasn't, and then you were stuck until the computer forgot that it thought it was jammed. Side question: why does Nestle think an espresso machine needs a computer? The one time I did interact with a member of the cleaning staff, the interaction was very pleasant.
Prentiss House is THE place to stay if you're heading to Cambridge! The decor and aesthetic is unmatched and the location is perfect! Don't miss this adorable, cozy boutique spot.
