Located in Elkridge, MD, our nine acre campus offers a private, international STEM Academy for 1st - 12th graders, as well as, a Montessori preschool.

Story

The Maryland International School (MDIS) is an independent private school offering a STEM-focused and International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum for 1st through 12th grade, as well as a Montessori pre-school.

At MDIS, our vision is to prepare our students to become creative problem solvers, effective communicators, and tomorrow's leaders who think ethically, independently, and globally.

We believe that culture must be intentionally developed in order to live our mission, realize our vision, and achieve our educational purpose and responsibilities.

Mission

The mission of Maryland International School (MDIS) is to provide an academically rigorous and supportive college-preparatory education with an interdisciplinary and applied focus on the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines in order to prepare students to become creative problem solvers, effective communicators, and tomorrow's leaders who think ethically, independently, and globally.

Academically Rigorous - We believe that all students can achieve when held to high standards. MDIS will emphasize high student achievement through standard-based curriculum, internally developed and standardized assessments and standard-aligned effective instructions.

Engaging - We believe that utilizing a problem-based, project-based, and inquiry-based pedagogy that begins with a real-life problem and teaches students concepts through the experience of finding solutions promotes critical thinking, collaboration and innovation.

Supportive - We believe that students learn most effectively in small learning environments. MDIS maintains a low student to teacher ratio, establishes personalized student work plans (PWP) and provides daily independent study time.
