The treatment was fine in ophthalmology, but in my four appointments for macular shots I've had to wait for an hour to an hour and a half for the shot, after completing the routine testing. Today I was there for over two hours. Something is very wrong with their scheduling.
I was diagnosed with advanced glaucoma and wanted to a second opinion on my treatment ahead. I met with Dr. Margeta and found her to be both personable and professional so I decided to pursue a treatment with her. During my second appointment, it was recommended that I should be aggressive with my treatment and opt for the laser surgery to relieve pressure in my eyes. My peripheral vision had declined significantly and eye drops didn't lower my pressure to an optimal level. I was told that her assistant would call me to schedule the procedure. I waited and heard nothing. So I called and left a message with her assistance Stephanie to schedule this surgery. I never got a call back and lost faith in the office's ability to provide me with quality post-op care. In my profession, you're only as good as the people you surround yourself with to build a team. Dr. Margeta is a highly skilled and competent physician. However, she and the facility at Longwood need better support staff. I have moved on from this practice. My vision is too important for my livelihood.
Wherever I share from in Boston I love knowing the fact that people care not only where you've been but they care about places that might help them as well and as a virtual tour guide here in Boston it's an honor to share your life and I like that some of these things help other people especially those who don't know our city I don't know our whole city I've only been here a little over 6 years and because I'm disabled now it's harder to get around but I like the opportunity to be able to share my life like an open book because that's essentially what it is as a Boston virtual tour guide I love that anything that you might share actually might be helpful to someone else especially those who never been to our city and maybe our city got a bad rap on some things but I'm living proof that there are other people like this in the city and those people do want to help others as well and I actually got to write a book about it so God bless you all and be safe and I hope you will check out Boston Massachusetts there's so much to see here and I hope to see more in the coming days and months bye for now sincerely yours Ritchie Vernon Boston virtual maps tour guide...
I do not recommend Dr Emma Davies or Mass. Eye and Ear, Longwood due to a lack of price transparency, poor communication, and gaps in patient care. I was a patient at this location for about a year, had a half dozen visits, one minor surgical procedure, and a dozen eye exams and tests. It’s very difficult to keep track of bills because the location sent two separate bills per visit – one for the doctor and exams, and the another for hospital visit charge and other diagnostic services. The majority of my visits were pretty much the same each time yet the bill each time varied. Dr. Davies on a couple of occasion did not recall key relevant details of case, for example in my post op visit she did not recall which type of procedure I had in my eye, she asked if I needed to remove a temporary contact which I did not need for my specific procedure. In another visit she did not recall if I wore contacts. One one visit she was 45 minutes late and did not offer an apology. I repeatedly asked how much the surgery would cost and was told $4,500. However, this was not accurate as the actual charge was $9,500. The $4,500 figure quoted was the maximum I would be held accountable for, minus what insurance would cover. Since I have a high deductible HSA this meant that my out of pocket was far higher than what I expected as I was doing my estimated based on a $4,500 procedure. On my post op visit I was given a couple of unnecessary exams since my eye was still healing and adjusting which I only found because I asked Dr. Davies why I needed to take those exams.
Disappointing how expensive care is in America. Not only is it already so expensive, but costs are absolutely not upfront and unclear. Went to see a doctor for a headache here- nothing wrong with the doctor himself. He was professional and had good care. I am disappointed that to see this doctor it cost me $300+ and another ~$90 for a location fee. So that’s ~$400 to see a doctor for a headache. I would just say that one should really think four times before seeing a doctor here. As an FYI, my insurance estimated that the cost would be around $100, so I’m now paying 4times more than what I had planned. Let’s talk about a location fee for a second. Why is the patient baring this cost? This is basically telling patients to pay for the doctor’s use of the clinic for THEIR place of work. Does a retail shop make customers pay for entering their premises and using their facility? I do not think so. I didn’t even use the restroom or even a tissue! However doctors and clinics decide to cover the facility costs is up to them. But they should ABSOLUTELY NEVER make their patients pay for this. $90 for a half hour visit... The billing department told me that the clinic should have disclosures about these hidden costs in the clinic. I was never informed nor provided any information regarding this. Not coming back no matter how painful this headache is. I rather suffer than pay an unreasonable amount to get clinical advice I can google.
First of many upcoming visits here. A little differcult to maneuver a power wheelchair on & off a transport van in front of the main entrance but other than that, a pleasant experience. Everyone was so very patient & helpful! From our dr & her staff to the security guards holding the elevator for us as l maneuver my mothers wheelchair on/off it as well as other staff members & their patients who checked on us periodically while we wait for our ride home when we were done.
Had an appointment at 10:00am and had to wait 40 min before I was seen by a technician. It should be noted that there were no other people in the waiting room. After I was seen by the first technician for some tests, I had to wait in another room for about an additional 20 min At this point it’s 11:30am. Then a second technician brings me to a third room where I wait another 10-15 min to see the doctor. Tldr, I had an appointment at 10:00am and didn’t see a doctor until 11:45am. The only reason why I didn’t rate 1 star is because the people were kind and friendly. Overall if time isn’t an issue then this place is okay.
Every time I call the Otolaryngology department I have to wait 15 - 20 minutes before anyone picks the phone up. I’ve waited on hold had them pick up and immediately hang up on me. Once I do get through to someone they seem to always have an attitude. The best part is when you finally do go in for your appointment the office is virtually empty and the receptionist are busy gossiping with one another.
The surgical staff were incredible - very kind, attentive and jovial. Took such good care of me, especially Allen and Margaret. Can’t thank them enough. Despite having surgery, could almost say my experience was enjoyable, thanks to the staff that made it such a breeze.
As others have said, the wait times at this facility are absolutely appalling. I assumed that, at worst, the appointment would take about and hour and a half... but an hour and a half came and went and Dr. Davies didn't even stop by the room to say hello. Do not schedule an appointment here unless you're willing to wait literally hours just to be seen for a short amount of time. They could have at least called and said they were running behind, but instead they find it perfectly acceptable to waste people's time.
