Should have done a lot more research before agreeing to a membership. I’ll own that. But customer service has been terrible. So I’m just going to try to save someone else the trouble if they don’t read the fine print well enough. Don’t. Get. A. Monthly. Membership. We decided to join for my husband and myself. We both work full time, specifically are interested in massages. We had pre booked a few months, which were all canceled by Masage Envy when they didn’t have sufficient staff to actually do out appointments. Then they didn’t have sufficient staff for us to find a time to get in with our current schedules. We got to use 1 or 2, but basically have now accrued a lot of unused massages which we can’t find times to use without taking off work and using PTO. As a solution they are telling us we’re free to go to a different location in a different city. Or get a facial or stretch instead. None of those things are things we have time to do or want to spend our credits on. We chose this location because it’s close enough for us to use. So we try to cancel. No such thing as an option to cancel with them. Not even with an early termination fee. Their reasoning is because they offer other services, you don’t need to cancel. So- long story short. Don’t do it. They don’t actually have enough staff to get you in for massages without taking PTO off work to do it. And as a solution, they’ll suggest you get a facial or stretch instead. Or drive to a different city. We’ve used other massage memberships that were so much better and easier to work with. And didn’t cancel our appointments in a regular basis and tell us to get a facial instead.
Terrible Massage Envy. This one is owned by a big investment corp Atticus, not a personal franchise, and it shows. I dont even know where to start. Ive been a member since 2011, we stayed during the pandemic and continued to allow them to charge us and build massages, but post pandemic has been horrible and we couldnt get through the massages fast enough so we could cancel. Customer service is all about nickel and diming, and an offensive sign is up about how you should tip more. We had one occasion where I woke up sick right before a morning massage, rather than go sick I was a responsible adult and stayed home, arranging for my mom to go in my place, this had happened before without issue, and my mom told them when she got there, this particular time after she left the massage like normal we got an email no other prior communication where they threatened to PRESS CHARGES because we didnt pay a $10 transfer fee that we had never had nor been informed of the previous 11 years before , yes over $10!! Fast forward, contract cancelled and I call in to see how many credits I have left, Im told I have one credit left so I schedule and go in, the massage is fine, I tip when I leave, nothing more said to me. Next day I have a $35 charge on my card. I called and asked what it was for, Im told I only had a half credit so they charged me for the other half $35 is more than half BTW. She said they made a mistake telling me I had a credit left. Not my fault, please refund, I wouldn't have scheduled. She said no. Then she then said I was told when I left what the charge on the card was, I said no they didnt, refund the charge. She said 'we have new people here', not my problem refund the charge it wasnt authorized. We dont refund services rendered. Still wasnt authorized, refund it. She finally says "I have refunded the charge to the card and am letting you know you are never welcome back into our clinic again" and hung up. Clearly they dont need clients here, and they are happy to let you know that. I highly recommend you go elsewhere.
While I am not a huge fan of the membership style, I have fallen in love with my therapist Syn. She was amazing and not only took great care of me and relieved my pain hip pain, but educated me at the same time. This is the first time I have not been in pain walking since I can remember.
The Massage Envy Bountiful location has improved so much! About 18 months ago I went there for a massage a couple of times but was very disappointed with my therapists. So I tried a different location. But then a few months ago I decided to give the Bountiful location a try again and my experience was night and day different! Trevyn is the reason for that difference. He is amazing at what he does! The massages he gives are spectacular! He has a way of making me feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the session. I came in with issues I didn’t think could be improved, let alone resolved by a massage therapist but I was wrong. It is evident that he more knowledgeable than most therapists and he puts his all in to helping you feel your absolute best. If you could clone other therapists in the way he does things, you would have such a great team! I have seen miraculous improvements in myself since I started sessions with him. The staff is also great at this location and I would highly recommend it.
I’ve been getting massages for a good 20 years plus at several different places over the course of time therefore have plenty of experiences to compare. I went for a massage to target some neck and back pain. Immediately after leaving I began calling around in hopes to find a therapist that could actually help and provide some sort of relaxation and relief!! I let the therapist know in advance that I would like to have focus on the knot in my neck however there was almost no focus whatsoever. 3/4 of the way through the massage I asked him if he was going to target my neck as requested. His response was that his method was to only target the neck while I was face up. This response surprised me. There has never been one time in my history of massage that the neck, ESPECIALLY when requested, has not been a target both while face down and face up. The therapist spent a total of about 2 to 3 minutes on my neck and was only a series of stretches. An incredible waste of time and money!!!!. To add to it, the first thing I had to do when I left was go home and shower because the oil he used had an odd rancid smell. Very disappointing experience.
Massage Envy is such a con! My fiancé had over 20 credits 4 years ago. The manager at the time split up the massages and allowed me to take half. Very cool… wish she was still there. We had almost regular massages, but being charged on top for current massages. Somehow in the process they started charging my account… I never even signed anything giving them permission. Now we have over 20 massages again! We are never going to be free of this place. Nora is the manager now, and has not been accommodating or helpful to say the least. The therapist are far and few. I’m trying to use up my massages and get what we have paid for. With the pandemic it’s impossible to get a massage unless you somehow luck out with a cancellation, and happen to be available. I spaced my facial, and got a text 15 minutes out that I would have to reschedule. Massage Envy has cancelled my massages, due to sick therapists and power outages, understandably. However, do the same for your clients, it’s why you are in business. Cynthia, Bethany and Kendra are amazing, they are the reason that place is still in business!
Trevyn was phenomenal! He went completely out of his way to help me get in and treated. He was absolutely respectful. This was my first massage ever and he communicated with me so I knew what to expect and he made me feel very comfortable. Totally recommend Trevyn without reservation!
I made my appointment online 1 1/2 hours before they opened, I needed to cancel because my truck wouldn’t start and when I called they said they still have to charge me 1/2 price. 8:39 a.m. booked appointment for 10:00 a.m. 9:30 a.m. truck wouldn’t start so I called but they didn’t open until 10:00 a.m. All inside two hours of booking the massage I couldn’t give a 24 hour notice because I just booked it!!! They lost a customer! I will never go there now, $115 for a 1 hour massage and I still had to pay half.
Massage Envy Bountiful houses more than just a few excellent massage therapists. We enjoy our sessions every time! We recently tried their facial products - amazing! We thought about discontinuing our membership a few times, just to try cutting down on pleasurable/unnecessary spending, but it's more than just pleasure. We come out of each massage feeling so relaxed and rejuvenated. It's such a reasonable expense when you think of all the benefits and it's a must have for our family! We'll continue to support this location and strongly recommend anyone looking for a great massage to check them out!
