Matador Sportfishing Charters

With only a few days notice, we booked our trip offshore as a unique way to celebrate my 40th birthday with my family. As far taking the chance to go offshore charter mid-November, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience thanks to Jake and Beau who showed us a excellent time out on the water! By the end of the trip, we caught just under our limit of 90 Black Sea Bass plus caught a few other unique varieties. I even showed our boys how their moms could hold her own by earning my very 1st Fish Citation for this 4+lbs Atlantic Triggerfish. We look forward to re-booking with Jake aka Matador Charters!!

Friends booked Matador Charter for my bachelor party. Never been offshore fishing, but I would absolutely book here again! Jake and Beau took us right to where the fish were and the catches were immediate and non stop! Jake clearly knows what he's doing and our 60 fish haul made that evident. The crew was fun, light hearted, and experienced in their craft. Jake not only managed the boat, but our lines and fish as well giving us a streamlined cast and catch experience. When we got back, the crew told us where to get our fish cleaned, gutted and fileted while we had lunch at The Back Deck another great recommendation by Cpt. Jake. Book here for a great time

This was my first time out on a fishing charter. I was with 5 other amateurs and Captain Jake was very helpful and knowledgeable! We kept him busy, helping us un-snag our lines, refilling the bait tray, unhooking fish, all while navigating us to some great hot spots for sea bass. We are excited to book another trip with Matador Charters!

5/5 for Matador Charters! By far some of best all around saltwater fishing trips we have been on. Captain Jake, Shawn, and the crew of Toro have put us on fish year after year out of Virginia Beach. Capt Jake and Shawn are extremely knowledgeable of these waters and know how pattern fish in all seasons. We have always been treated with respect and have felt like a part of the Virginia Beach fishing community when we are with them. I have always appreciated the crews support for our military and Capt Jake's patience to work scheduling around training to allow our service members the opportunity to fish with Matador Charters. Every trip has been enjoyable no matter what we catch. Being out on the water with Jake and his crew has always made for a great day. Went out Sept 27, had a blast. Jake went above and beyond to put us on the fish. The boat limited out with seabass 90 also a few triggers and bonita. What impressed us most was when it was time to go in you spotted even more fish on the surface and stopped to give us a shot at them. Thanks and we'll definitely see you again.

My son's and I had the best fishing trip we could have imagined. Great experience with Captain Jake and First Mate Cole. Will definitely be back with them again. New family tradition for us.

We had a great time fishing with Captain Jake on The Matador. He knows his stuff and knows where to find fish! He was very patient with us as it was our first time deep sea fishing. I would definitely recommend him and plan to book again for next year!

I have fished with or chartered Jake many times over the years. Have caught multiple citation fish and even a state record during those trips. If there is a fish out there Jake will put you on it. We always come back with full boxes and a lot of laughs. Anyone that says different never really fished with him. Looking forward to another great year !
