Matt's cart and sterling reputation have moved to the recently opened Hinterland pod on SE 50th. I suspect that the pod's covered seating and central bar service will work out very well for them. Ordering can be done online, or via a pseudo online touchscreen attached to the cart - I suspect that this is good for keeping up with demand, as well as being an effective pandemic protocol. As for the food finally!, it was well worth the wait for my first visit. Choosing somewhat randomly from the menu, I went with a Pulled Pork taco, as well as the Beef Supremo. If a fast food item was redesigned and made with actual quality ingredients, you'd get the Beef Supremo. This was a fascinating exercise, but it was the Pulled Pork that will bring me back - the pork came with guacamole and pickled onions that proved to cap it off perfectly. Matt's tacos are truly special.
One of the only places in Portland where I’ve felt the quality punches way above the price. I had the Brisket taco and Pork Belly taco and they were amazing. Have the option to swap the flour tortillas for corn tortillas to make gluten free! Be prepared to wait a while but it is worth it. The tacos were so good I wanted to eat more but didn’t want to overeat so I’ll be back soon.
Matt's BBQ Tacos is NOT to miss! Situated in the back of an alley, their little truck made a big impression! We used a kiosk to order and waited around 35 minutes on a busy August Sunday. While we waited, we took advantage of the full bar inside and sat outside on the covered patio that had fans. There was also limited inside seating which was a bit cooler. The tacos were served in the most delicious, fluffy flour tortillas just wished they were a bit warmed up and we had a lot of options to choose from as far as fillings go. Breakfast tacos are now served all day, which was cause for celebration, but the brisket taco was by far the best. Their sauces were great, and the queso was fine. Tacos were about $5 a piece and worth every penny.
Came around 10:30am right before they stop serving breakfast tacos at 11am. Relatively empty and only took about 10 minutes to get my tacos. Drinks are ordered at the bar, and I got an iced cold brew -no iced coffee available. The flour tortillas were thick and on the small-ish side but definitely had plenty of filling inside. I really liked the brisket breakfast taco and reminded me of tacos back home in Texas. The migas taco was a little soggy but I enjoyed it especially with the green salsa. Overall, definitely going to be a regular breakfast taco place for me and would bring friends here for a casual breakfast before a weekend hike or outing!
We’ve been wanting to stop by here for a while now but the wait has always been crazy. Last weekend we were able to walk up and place our order kiosk style. Holy sh*t! We’ve had Matt’s BBQ on Mississippi but this was a wholenother level. The meats are what you are used to at MBBQ, but the fresh pressed flour tortillas and the salsas just paired perfectly! Nice little bar + tap house anchoring the carts.
Top notch BBQ in tacos! It's a dream come true! Not only are the meats tasty, but the flour tortillas really are something special. Slightly thicker than store bought, they have a fluffiness and slight chewiness that I have never experienced in a flour tortilla before. The ground beef taco was like elevated Taco Bell in the best way imaginable and the queso fundido is a must try! The pub next door had Stiegl Radler on tap as well as a nice pinot noir rosé. The outdoor seating area is really nice. Street parking can sometimes be hard to find during peak times.
Hyped. The brisket and the pork belly itself were good but the overall taco didn’t taste good. And the egg certainly doesn’t go well with the brisket and the taco shell. The taco shell itself was soggy-ish and tasted raw. I have had much better tacos elsewhere.
We came here for the pork belly tacos. Simple and delicious. This location is cute. Sat outside and enjoyed the atmosphere. I did the option without the tortillas and it was just as good. Others asked what I had because it looks so good even without the tortilla.
This tacos were fantastic! The flavor, the combination of ingredients, it was just delicious. You got to try this place if you’re in the area.
We had such a great experience here! Food was really good and the service was quick and super friendly. My favorite is the pork belly on the handmade flour tortilla!! So good!
