Love McDonald’s garden center. Always lots of options for both indoor and outdoor flowers, trees and shrubs. A little on the pricy side but they have great sales throughout the year I always look for. My def. Go to in springtime for snapdragons, marigolds, dusty miller, and petunias for my pots!
To be clear, I think McDonald’s is a wonderful company, I have been going to them for years for Christmas trees. I traditionally go to the Independence location but today thought I would try Great Neck. The one star is for the customer service I received from the woman in perennials and annuals. I’ll admit I’m new to plants so was looking for some help. But she acted as if she could barely be bothered and went back to watering her plants in another area. I inquired about pet safe plants and her response was “well there’s this thing called google you can ask.” I am fully aware of google, I actually prefer to use aspca plant website, but I thought her professional guidance would have been helpful. I made a hand gesture and she mocked me. Honestly the worst customer service experience I have had in years! Norm then helped me and he was fantastic, but I am so put off in the future I’ll know to at least avoid this location. Perhaps I should try Anderson’s, but I’ve been a faithful McDonald’s customer for years and would have preferred to do so. I wanted to browse and had a relaxing afternoon but i quickly left instead because it was that uncomfortable.
UPDATED..5/26/23. Came back looking for unqueseaturtle items. This place neverdisappoints me. I absolutely love this place . Always has a beautiful display that I leave with something in my hands. Prices are reasonable when you buy sales. The store inside near Post Office has beautiful and different products that are local and different. Always there to offer help when you have a question about different plants and questions about why I'm killing my plant. EMPLOYEES are so friendly!
What can I say! They literally have everything. Their variety of plants and flowers are to die for. The store and garden shop are clean and full of amazing gifts for all. One of our favorite spots for holiday plants and decorations.
I absolutely love McDonald Garden Center. It is my "go to" garden center in Hampton Roads. Prices can be a little higher than other places, but the quality of plants they carry make up for the prices. Plus, the membership card is free, and you get discounted prices for some of the plants and merchandise. Fantastic selection of indoor and outdoor plants and trees. Well kept, and always a pleasure to visit here even if you just want to look around.
I love this place, it gives you a " homie" vibe. Beautiful, healthy variety of plants, a very welcoming atmosphere and friendly faces! The staff is very helpful. Awesome pots selection, and dont get me started on the Orchids, OMG! This a must go to place if you are looking for something extraordinary.
This is my new favorite place! This place puts the chain stores to shame. Soooooooo many options to choose from and not a single plant was dead unlike chain stores I had recently gone too. I plan to go there throughout the spring and summer.
I normally buy several things from here, even for gifts. Unfortunately bought a Fiddle last month July and it had spider mites. I called and they couldn’t help me unless I had my receipt still. : will definitely inspect their plants closer before purchase next time.
Large selection of plants, flowers, and herbs. Very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. They have a rewards program and some plants come with a 1 year warranty. Location is between buildings in the parking but GPS gets you in the right area.
Not one employee bothers to greet you or ask if you are looking for anything specific. They do have a beautiful selection and it is a well manicured display in each section you walk through.
