Dr. McGinty is a great doctor. Unfortunately his front office staff have been very aggressive and hostile. They do not fulfill pre authorizations when you prescribe medicine and they do not complete paperwork you assign them to complete. I plan on making a formal complaint because my requests to speak to you have been denied and the front staff purposely pushes appointments back when I speak up. I feel your staff are bullies and I still don’t understand why I am waiting on FMLA paperwork from 2 years ago. They treat people badly and I stuck in there with you because you are a good doctor but I just can’t deal with your ghetto staff anymore.
I was a patient here for 4 yrs. Never again. Dr recently “updated his policies” in a way that is basically a cover for insurance fraud. On top of that, his receptionist is a real piece of work. Doc made a mistake writing my prescription wrote for 30 days rather than the 90 we’d discussed. I called to correct it and office admin told me I’d need to make another appt. I said I don’t understand since I just had an appt. She told me, “you do understand, you just don’t like it.” Then hung up on me. I’m done
My husband been going to Dr. McGinty for about 3 years. Everything was good until recently. He's been yelled at by his wife. Hung up on numerous times. He asked me to call so maybe things will be better, no it was worth. When she realized I was calling on the behalf of my husband, she proceeded to y'all saying he a man and need to handle his own affairs. Then she hung up. I called several times after that, I was sent right to voicemail. Something needs to be done regarding such rudeness.
Dr. McGinty is a kind, attentive, patient, welcoming, intelligent, and friendly doctor that I have thoroughly enjoyed calling my primary care physician for almost a decade now. Sadly, his new receptionist his wife, apparently shares none of those qualities. Her insistent gatekeeping, boorish inflexiblity, and incredible rudeness even when dealing with very simple corrections to prescriptions has turned a friendly community-oriented practice into an ugly, transparent money grab. I have been left with no choice but to end my relationship, very sadly, with my doctor because of his receptionist. That really sucks, and I couldn't be more disappointed.
He hired his wife and everything has gone down hill. Dr. McGinty had great patient care and served families of patients for over 20 years with the same Office Manager, Dawn, and Nurse Robin. One day, Robin was gone. Another day, Dawn was gone. Then the “new” wife came on and has been horrible at running the office/admin side of his business. She suggested several times that I go to another doctor. Ironically, her name is Dana too. I haven’t been able to see or speak to Dr. McGinty himself since she is the gate keeper. So after years of being a patient, the wife admin blatantly told me to no longer come and I obviously can’t afford them so have a nice day. She over talks, yells, insults, eye rolling, rude, and extremely unprofessional. Terrible. She yelled telling me “I’m his wife that’s who I am and you will not see him and it’s obvious you can’t pay so I suggest you go see another doctor you can afford.” I immediately came to post this review. Sad part was all I wanted was to get a lab order. When I called the other day I asked her if I could get a lab order to take to get lab work done. She said, “he doesn’t give out lab orders anymore. You have to have an appointment with him to get a lab order.” I never had to do that before. He would always either submit it to the lab directly or put it in an envelope for pick up. This was the first I heard of an appointment for lab request. She proceeded to say he changed that back in April. So I said, “Ok, let me get an appointment.” That was today. She comes on the virtual call spilling out past due balances. I said ok but why wasn’t I told this at the onset of it all. I should have been made aware when she scheduled me. So I said I wasn’t prepared to pay the balance she quoted today. She hung up on me. I logged back on and waited an hour before she came back on to say he’s not going to see you today. I asked why and that’s when I was told I can’t afford him and can go see someone else and she’s the wife and yelling etc….. So if Dr. McGinty is allowing ANYONE, wife, friend, foe run his office and treat patients like this then something has changed drastically. Money or no money no one deserves that type of treatment from their medical provider or staff. Period. I highly do not recommend them or him at this point.
I waited two months for my appointment. Dr. McGinty rushed me as we were approaching the end of the appointment and seemed to already dismiss some of my concerns without looking at my charts or labs. There are two reasons I will not return. The first is that I never received my referrals after almost two weeks. The second main reason is that Dr. McGinty talked about my concerns loudly in the lobby in front of other patients as he was showing me out using dismissive language. I cried on my way home. Based on the website, I thought I was going to be able to work with a doctor interested in investigating my symptoms with me, and trying various solutions. I would not recommend to anyone who is actually seeking holistic healthcare.
Dr. McGinty is by far my favorite doctor. He is knowledgeable and professional, but the warmth and genuine care that come through every interaction are what set him apart. I have noticed that I end up waiting upwards of an hour to see him, but I consider that a small price to pay for a doctor that is willing to take the time to listen to me instead of rushing me out the door to make the next appointment. I've also had nothing but positive interactions with the other staff in my numerous interactions. Some other reviewers have commented that Dawn not sure about the spelling, who works the desk, is rude. In my experience, she has been professional and helpful. She is straight forward and clear, and I really appreciate that about her.
I've been seeing Dr. McGinty as my PCP for a little over a year. His wait times are pretty long because he's a solo practitioner but he's always been pleasant to deal with and does his best to help his patients. That being said, his morning nurse is definitely rude. I just had a pretty unpleasant experience where she seemingly couldn't wait to get me off the phone, couldn't confirm that I missed an appointment which I know I had one previously scheduled, and when I asked when my prescription would be filled she had to restrain herself from yelling, "he'll call you when he's ready!" Dr. McGinty: I love you and love supporting black businesses even as it inconveniences me now that I live in Virginia. I would love to keep seeing you, but I'm incredibly put off by your morning nurse. If you're reading this, please contact me soon. You could really lose a lot more patients due to your morning nurse's unprofessionalism.
I have been with Dr. McGinty for over 10 years. He is a wonderful Dr. very very professional. He listens to all your concerns and does not make you feel rushed under any circumstances. His staff Dawn and Robin are very professional as well always on tasks with what needs to be done with patients. I always leave my appointments with good advice what I should be doing and not doing . I would definitely refer patients to Dr. McGinty.
Only gave 4 of 5 stars because i'm not actually a patient. I came for a consultation concerning a medical issue i was having. I do not remember the receptionists name, but I was treated with respect and my questions were answered. Dr McGinty is an intelligent and intriguing doctor. Very knowledgeable on the subjects I was asking about. Although it took 3 buses to get to his office, I just may switch from my current primary doctor. It is so refreshing to have a doctor who listens. Having his dog in the office was a delightful surprise.
