The nation's largest voluntary school desegregation program.

Mission

METCO was founded to provide the opportunity for children from racially segregated schools in Boston and children from racially isolated schools in the suburbs to learn together in an integrated public school setting.
It has fulfilled that mission for 52 years, making it the second longest-running voluntary desegregation program in the United States.

Good experience, easy process and professional intake staff. I called ahead, so I was prepared and knew what documents to bring. Hard to find legal parking, especially in the snow. Had to park quite a bit away and then walk.
The staff was able to offer the information I was seeking. The downside of my visit was that the wait time to be seen was too long.
Never any parking. Never a receptionist. Have to wander around in building until you find someone. Time consuming to visit.
Awesome program for Boston urban children to attend other suburban public schools.
