The waitress was very friendly and sweet, but that’s the only positive experience we had here. I tried one of the combination items and the only thing you could taste in the crunchy taco was the lettuce. The rice was crunchy, and nothing had any flavor. It’s nothing like a traditional Mexican restaurant, and like the one review said… seems like some kind of hipster style. I wouldn’t recommend this place for a Mexican restaurant
We went to Mi Cocina for my 21st birthday, and I was astounded!! The manager, Linda, was more than happy to make vegan customizations for my whole family. She made our experience so pleasant. I even got a surprise birthday dessert: a cinnamon waffle taco with caramel apples inside and a candle on top. I can’t wait until next time!
I ordered delivery through Charleston2Go, so take this for what you will. I wasn't too impressed with the food. I got 2 ground beef tacos, am order for the queso fundido, and churros. Nothing was actually hot. It's difficult to place blame since it was delivery. Starting with the tacos, ordering though C2G, there is no option to select shell type. They came in a hard shell, which I don't care for. I've also never had a "traditional" taco that had only lettuce and Colby ? cheese. That's an odd choice of cheese if you ask me. The beans and rice we're both ok, although not at all hot. The queso fundido was horrible. It was simply a slightly warm aluminum dish with a layer of hard cheese in the bottom and room temperature chorizo on top. What I was able to scrape up, wasn't great. I probably wouldn't order it again even if I ate in. The churros were good. I'd have to be convinced to get food from here again, delivery or not.
Eclectic local boutique eatery that serves up massive appetizers. We ordered the El loco pollo nachos for dinner. We added pico and queso, and when we picked them up they came out in a half sheet pan. Easily enough to feed 4 people. They were loaded down with toppings, the only indication there were even tortilla chips was a few of them peeking out the sides. The chicken was shredded and had a tomato like marinade. Very flavorful. We also sampled one each of the cherry and apple empanadas. They weren't bad, but we'll pass next time.
This is an alright place if you're looking for looking for non-traditional Mexican food. I'd even say it's a bit on the hipster side. Staff is super friendly and helpful, but for me the food didn't shine that much. If you want a chimichanga that's absolutely stuffed to the brim with meat and nothing but meat, you'll love the dish, but it didn't pull its weight flavor-wise. It tasted like the meat had little to no seasoning and they didn't add any peppers, tomatoes, onions, etc. The meat was dry as well. I had to get salsa with every bite of chimichanga just to give some flavor and offset the dryness. The rice, however, was great. I'm not sure, but judging from the texture I'd say they put couscous in the rice and I'm a big fan. All in all, not a bad restaurant, but they could use some work in the seasoning department.
We had an awesome experience at Mi Cocina de Amor! As we were driving through town, we stopped in and we pleasantly greeted by the staff, seated and treated wonderfully the whole time by our server, Linda! We got the Mexican fish tacos and house margaritas and they were delicious. Wished we had a place close to our home town like this- we’d go weekly!! Thank you for a great experience!
My wife and I frequent this restaurant as often as possible. Authentic Mexican food and friendly service. I suggest the California burrito, cheeseburger tacos, mama's enchiladas and every Margherita they make!
Loved sitting outside on the patio and we had a wonderful waitress. Their tacos are excellent!
The restaurant was cozy and the service was great. The food I received was flavorful, portions were large. Overall it was a wonderful little spot once you can find parking and get over to the building. I'd highly recommend stopping in and giving them a shot. They had a wonderful drink menu as well.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: YesDelivery: NoCurbside pickup: No
Very nice little place, not busy when we were there,, fast / attentive service, it is locally owned per waitress report, little pricey for 2 adults , 24$ +tip , but food quality justified that cost, we will be back.
