Miami Arts Charter School

please read this!!!!!!!!! If your looking for a great school for your kid to express themselves and use their talent to the best of their ability while learning and growing, dont come here. ive been in the school since it first opened (4 years) and thank goodness im leaving this year. there are a few good things i must say that im grateful about such as the lunch, clean bathrooms, and no uniforms, but that doesnt balance out with the horrible things about this school. first of all, most of the teachers from last year were really good but they got fired for no apparent reason. They were replaced by horrible new ones who dont care at all about the students. My math teacher (9th grade, algebra 1) was beyond inappropriate. He had a policy where if you show him embarrasing pictures of students, he will give you 15 points on your next assignment. THEN he will publicly humiliate you infront of every student and put your picture on the TV. He even slowed down a video of 2 boys playing around, and made it seem like they were "having sex" and showed every single class. DISGUSTING!! many students have reported him, including me SEVERAL TIMES, but the assistant principal did NOTHING to fix it. Next, the theatre department is so depressing. I love theatre so much, but this school ruined it for me. weve had had 2 field trips in the last 4 years for theatre. everytime we plan a trip, it gets cancelled. We also RARELY ever have field trips because the principal doesnt let us. we wanted to go watch a show in miami, but the school didnt wanna pay for our buses so we couldnt go unless we had our parents drive us. HOWEVER the dance department went to pittsburg with no problem. were also NOT allowed to perform musical theatre because the principal "hates it". Our principal LITERALLY NEVER comes to our campus because he stays at the wynwood campus all year. He also uses the funding from the homestead campus for the wynwood campus to pay for tablets, librarys, gyms etc. Our campus doesnt have a library, a gym, and we barely have wifi. We also cant open up to the school without them shutting us down. They dont listen to us EVER. A parent exposed him by sharing an email he sent her calling her names and being making fun of her for being a concerned parent. you can find the pictures of the emails sent somewhere on googe. PLEASE DEEPLY CONSIDER WHERE YOU PUT YOUR CHILD BECAUSE THIS SCHOOL DOESNT HAVE ANYTHING TO OFFER!!! They took my phone away because it was visible in my bag. thats also another thing i hate. if your phone is in your bag, but is visible, it gets taken away. CHOOSE WISELY!

This school sucks, teachers go in and out, the teachers are bad anyway, the Spanish teacher is bad; doesn't even teach. No sports or dances, nothing fun. If you're thinking about going here, don't. You will not have a good experience, there isn't any lockers either. Security is bad and dress code is stupid. You would think that since it's an arts school, where you can express yourself, you would be able to have colored hair. No. Hair color must be natural. Any questions, ask me and I'll answer. I've been going here for going on 3years and the only reason I'm still here is because we are a military family so my dad didn't wanna go through a lot of trouble for 4 years

I would not recommend this school to anyone one who likes fun. They wouldn't even let the eighth graders go on grad venture. If you want to go to a school that is strictly work and no fun this is the school for you. The principal only comes around once a year and doesn't even show up to the concerts at the school. Lunch is 4.75 and the school doesn't even offer free lunch. Not to mention the chef gets into fights with the students.

Horrible horrible horrible no good acedmic teachers, lunch is expensive, and most of my teachers weren’t there half the year we had substitutes everyday

To put it short, the school was okay. The lunch was good, the people were very accepting espcially if you're lgbt+, they students are very creative, fun and intresting, no hw unless you needed to finish something. However lots of racist jokes and remarks made towards me despite me not knowing those people, I barely learned nothing and some kids were stuck up and snotty.
