Michael's Jewelers

Michael is now 104 years old. After 73 years, in the same location, he and his wife Judith are retiring Dec..29. I grew up alongside them while I worked two careers in downtown Phoenix. Happy retirement!

May have been great a few years ago, but buyer beware. Extremely difficult to communicate with. Condescending and rude. I didn't catch names but I would assume the older gentleman was Michael and the lady with him could have presumably been his wife. Both were so rude upon entry, we just turned around and left. I would just recommend avoiding all together

I absolutely love this place. My husband got my ring from there 9 years ago and I couldn't be happier. I take it here for cleaning and servicing. Michael and his wife are the best.

I had a watch that I needed repaired so I googled watch repair and up popped Michael's Jewelers which was within walking distance from my location. I strolled down to the shop which is located a couple blocks South of central station on Central Ave in downtown Phoenix. It is located in an old building and when I entered the shop I found myself in a well appointed showroom with cabinets filled with all kinds of sparkling treasures. At the back of the shop was an elderly gentleman who greeted me. I had called before heading out to see if he could repair a talking atomic wristwatch so I told him I was the one who had called. He was very helpful and pleasant. He looked at the watch and then explained that to open up and diagnose the problem it would probably cost more than the watch was worth. I had suspected that might be the case so I thanked him for his honest opinion. I then asked him if I could take a look at what he had for sale in all those display cases. As I made my way through the shop I happened upon a newspaper article written about the establishment that was framed and hanging on one of the walls. It was a history of the shop and the founder and owner. Mr Michael Strong. Mr Strong had opened the shop in it's current location in 1954 which was 2 years after I was born. The article also have Mr Strong's age as 91 years. I checked the date of the newspaper and it was 2011. That made Mr Strong 99 years old!!! I went back to the gentleman behind the counter and asked him if he was 99 years old. He responded with "I'm going to be 100 in two months". I was dumbfounded. What an amazing man. I would highly recommend that if you have the time drop in and meet this most exceptional man.

It is rare that you do business with anyone and your expectations are exceeded but that is exactly what happened. I took my wife’s 7 year old wedding band in to get soldered for a crack and I got it back today and not only the repair was perfect but they cleaned it to brand new condition! Great service and staff. Was greeted right when I walked in. They repaired a necklace for me in 5 minutes they had the part in stock and when I asked what I owed, they advised it was free of charge. They had lots of unique jewelry pieces so I will definitely be back to browse. Thank you, Michael’s Jewelers!

I have been a customer of Michaels for over 40 years, you can not find a more honest jeweler. He recently upgraded my diamond in my engagement ring and I cried, he told my husband I would. My ring is more than I hoped for. He did an amazing job. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with this job. Thanks Michael.

Dropped off a very important watch to me for them to service. I was told by the woman in the store that I would receive a call after a few days, but I have received no call at all. I left the watch which was my first ever father's day present on the 15th and I have not heard from them since. I have called them yesterday and today during their limited business hours but no one answers the phone and I have received no call back. I would like my watch fixed, but I am getting nervous because I haven't heard anything and they aren't answering their phone. What is going on Michael's Jewelers?

I took my ring to get sized by Michael. I asked for a 7 1/2 size and when I got it back, the ring fit but it was a little tight. Michael did offer to resize it but I just did not want to leave it. I just went to Shane Co. and asked them to measure the ring Michael sized. It was sized to a 7 not 7 1/2 as I requested. I lost trust in Michael's Jewelers and from now on I would stick with Shane Co. I feel they have better quality jewelry plus if you get a ring from Shane Co. they size it for free and do all repairs on their Jewelry for nothing. So far, I have purchased from Shane Co. a set high quality pearls and just got a complete set earrings, ring and necklace of diamonds and beautiful Morganite stones jewelry for good price compared to other Jewelers.
