I have had my hair cut at Michael Tschantz twice, both times by Michael. He did an amazing job. I got layers done and wanted him to define them more and he totally understood what I was talking about. Very professional, great hair cut. Will be going back again. He has closed the big place that he owned and has gone solo but the service remains excellent.

Walked in to a very friendly atmosphere. Molly was my stylist. If you want some one patient and great to work with, she's your girl!! Does wonders with any kind of hair. Never going to anyone else!!!!

Michael is an exceptional stylist. As someone who has been trying different, cheap options since 2006, I have gone to Michael three times now in the last couple months and have been beyond satisfied with my experience. Going in with only a vague idea, rambling incoherently about what I want my hair to look like, and coming out with an exceptional haircut every time really speaks to the expertise and professionalism of this salon.
While I have only seen Michael, if he holds his staff to the same high standards that he holds to himself, I have no doubt they do exceptional work as well.
If you were like me, and had little to no clue about what you wanted out of your look, pay a little extra and visit Michael; I promise it's worth it. The difference in cost pales in comparison to the confidence I've gained from being truly satisfied with my haircut. This may sound ridiculous to some, but I can't stress enough how valuable it was to me, personally, to not have to worry about a shoddy haircut.
Give it a shot; I guarantee you will feel the same way I did.

If your a guy looking for someone to give you a good look/haircut Molly is your girl. She is the best when it comes to guys haircuts. She has given me my last three cuts and I will keep her as my stylist for as long as I can.

I have lived in Iowa City for about 5 years and I never found a salon I was in love with. I saw Michael Tschantz had really great reviews online so I decided to give it a chance. I absolutely love it. My stylist, Lindsey was really helpful in showing me how to style my hair and what products to use. Not to mention she gave me probably one of the best haircuts I've ever gotten. I can't say enough good things! I'll definitely be going back!
