What a lovely sunny and spacious gallery on three floors, filled with these wild perspectives in heavy impasto depicting the spirit and vibration of New Orleans. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to write here with the New Orleans Writing Marathon.
I feel the work of Michalopoulos may not be for everyone but for those that appreciate it, it is fun, full of energy and highly valued. The French Quarter and Marigny scenes are my favorites but all of his work is wonderful. If you stop by his gallery you may well fall in love also. Very interesting to see and admire.
Main gallery of New Orleans’ best artist!
I have been going to New Orleans once or twice a year, for the last five years !! I always stop in to see James work Always treated so nicely by the same girl !! One of my most favorite artists of all time
My favorite artist. I have 2 of his giclee paintings hanging proudly in my home. Reminds me of New Orleans every time I look at them.
I have followed Michalopoulos since purchasing an oil painting, years ago, at his former gallery in Boston. It was great to finally get to New Orleans and visit his gallery. His paintings are great...I love his style. The gallery was impressive, both in layout and in the quantity & quality of the artwork exhibited. His landscapes and his buildings are intricate and outstanding. The young lady working was extremely friendly, personable and interesting. Buying or looking, this is one gallery you need to visit.
Tuesday 12/20 about 4 pm. The kind man working there was SO helpful and friendly. What a great experience at this lovely gallery. Thank you also for the LAGNIAPPE!!
Stunning everytime . I have an emotional experience everytime I go. Truly breath taking. . Go see it. If you can afford it BUY IT, if you cant afford it at least go absorb it. JULIE CONNELLY-NICOLL was incredible today there as well. TODAY was a first seeing part of the cow series.
Beautiful artwork but very rude sales lady. Disappointing to go in person to purchase but great pieces. Ruins the experience
It’s always worth it to stop into the Michalopoulos Gallery when I’m in New Orleans. It’s hard not to feel joy when you look at his paintings and they truly capture the spirit and life of New Orleans.
