Was satisfied with the service and Bassoon rental. Problems were addressed but nice to actually try the various kinds. Hope to rent more Bassoons later on! 2020-Still provides great help and assistance with their Bassoon department. Highly recommend to everybody and they always have the best quality of Bassoons!
We went to Midwest Musical Imports as a result of a recommendation from my son's band director. We were looking for a clarinet rental for the 2018-2019 school year. The service has been excellent. From the initial phone conversations to meeting in person the personnel have been great. This is manly a woodwind shop. I haven't seen any brass accessories in the shop. They have an in house repair facility that is open on Saturdays. I highly recommend Midwest Musical Imports.
Amazing store for all your double-reed needs! I purchased my bassoon here and Katie was incredibly helpful and answered all of my many questions. Very knowledgeable staff! Also very close to a lot of the Twin Cities campuses, so perfect for musicians in school!
I have been a customer for a few years. The staff is very knowledgeable, kind, and eager to assist. As a bassoonist, I find their expertise especially valuable since regular music stores don't know much about the instrument. I love their new location.
As an amateur bassoonist I have shopped at MMI a number of times both for accessories to -- and repairs on -- my instrument. Terrific bassoon specialist Katie and repair staff. New store is spacious and well laid out. She and the others really know their stuff and, because they are all musicians themselves, consciously try to do the right thing for a customer.
I've been a happy and loyal customer of MMI for at least 30 years. I got to know them when I lived in Minneapolis and I continue to use them now that I live in Maine. They repair my oboe, I rent English horns from them, I buy reeds from them, and they give me advice on how to maintain my instrument. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They never let me down. They're a first class operation.
Eric did a very thorough overhaul of my instrument, addressing many issues in an instrument I had acquired decades ago and again play now as an amateur. Although the work was very good, there were additional quality factors that I needed revised an intonation issue discovered once rehearsals resumed, and persistently sticky pads to the point I cannot take the instrument apart without extreme effort. The bottom line is that I invested a lot in service and was told that there would be an almost $400 minimum to take a second look 2 months after work totalling more than $1200. That's simply not tenable, especially as an amateur.
Went in looking for a advanced Clarinet for my daughter after speaking with Brandon over the phone. Who knew a place this awesome existed. Professional, polite, very knowledgable staff, and they have a friendly guard dog to greet customers as well.
Great staff. A pleasure doing business.
Recommended by music teacher to have my daughter's oboe fixed there. Ended up being a simple fix and was not charge for the service. Nice, knowledgeable staff.
