About

MilkWorks O is a nonprofit community breastfeeding center offering IBCLC consultations, breast pumps, moms groups, education/classes, weigh station & retail! • In-network with ALL major private insurance (consults + pumps) and NE Medicaid (pumps only)

Story

MilkWorks is Nebraska's only comprehensive community breastfeeding center, founded as a nonprofit in 2001 by seven women who were committed to providing accurate information and supportive breastfeeding assistance to mothers. As a nonprofit, we have a 501c3 tax status and accept tax deductible donations and grants to support our mission: Creating a healthier community by helping mothers breastfeed their babies.

We provide many services at no cost, including moms’ groups, drop-in weight checks, our Breastfeeding Information Center, mentoring for nursing, dietetic, child development and medical students, and presentations to high schools and college classes. Because not all mothers have insurance that covers breastfeeding assistance or breast pumps, we are committed to keeping our fees as low as possible. All of our income is put back into providing services for families and our community.

MilkWorks expanded to Omaha in March 2015, opening MilkWorks O in Rockbrook Village.

Milkworks is amazing! I have really enjoyed my lactation visits there unlimited with my insurance, definitely check your benefits. I would also highly recommend getting your pump here and having a prenatal consultation to get some tips to prepare for before baby comes. The advice I got helped me make the most of my hospital stay and inpatient lactation resources as well. They also have a really cute shop with adorable baby gifts think Sarah Wells bags, Copper Pearl burp cloths, Kindred Bravely nursing bras etc and all the pumping accessories you could need! They also do weighted feeds so you can see how much milk your baby is getting which is so reassuring in those first couple of weeks when you are worried about weight gain.
Great place to get help for breastfeeding moms. I've sent the lactation consultants and Dr Leeper. Both were e extremely helpful. They retai everything needed for the breastfeeding journey. Pumps, bras, supplements, pump travel bags... They have it all covered.
I would have stopped breastfeeding had it not been for MilkWorks. Their lactations consultants are the best I’ve encountered in Omaha, after working with several. Dr. Leeper and LC Anne have helped me with latch issues, accurate flange sizing, recurrent clogged ducts and mastitis. They are competent, practical, thorough and compassionate. MilkWork’s breastfeeding class was also incredibly helpful. I cannot recommend and thank them enough!
Unsure if it was a one-off with the person we spoke to today but she was super defensive when my wife tried to explain that the pump we purchased 5 days ago wasn't working properly. On top of that, she tried to upsell replacement parts in case it happened again even though the manufacturer would do so for free since the product is well within the warranty period... The only positive was that they fixed the pump at the store but even then they tried to shift responsibility to the manufacturer first. I left there feeling disappointed that a store with so many good reviews would have such bad customer service and try to trap people who are unwilling to look at the product's warranty.
Absolutely incredible place! So helpful, always able to get us in quickly even Saturday’s and a welcoming environment. Perfect for mamas on their breastfeeding journey.
I had no issues with my firstborn, but plenty with my second. I made an appointment with Dr. Leeper and after one visit my pain has gone away and my son has started gaining weight. She was incredibly knowledgeable, the staff is friendly, and I felt comfortable as soon as we arrived. Thank you for the services you’re providing to the chestfeeding community!
We are very thankful to have been recommended Milkworks by our pediatrician. We were having some issues with nursing until we met with Michelle who was fantastic. Huge progress was made and she went out of her way to be helpful in a way that was best for us and even gave us her phone number in case of any nursing emergencies. Thank you Milkworks!
They are absolutely amazing and love kids! Helped my wife so much! Nurse Jessie and the other Lactation Specialists that work there as well as all the other staff are just amazing and well educated on breastfeeding as well as other subjects. And I realize prices for stuff are a bit high but I would definitely spend your money here because it not only pays for their salaries since they are nonprofit but helps organization as well! If you actually have almost any questions parenting wise these ladies are gonna do their best to help you out with any questions you might have so don’t be shy and make the appointment! Both our kids went here and our 2 year old turned out to be a great and smart kid partially thanks to MikWorks so thank you for all your help guys and wonderful community service you do!
Took their breastfeeding class and we found it very informative. Feel more prepared and think MilkWorks will be a great ally in our bfeeding journey!
Milkworks is the reason I breastfed as long as I did. If it wasn't for their help through my first bout with mastitis and continued support throughout my nursing journey including giving me previously donated items to help me pump while at work, I would have quit in the first few months. This place and the staff are such a blessing
