I became hypothyroid 25 years ago. I was prescribed synthroid (name brand) because I could not take the generic medication for this disorder. After 25 years of allowing me to pay the generic rate for the name brand medication, Blue Cross decided to charge me full freight in 2017. I asked them to reconsider, followed all complaint protocols. My insurance policy clearly stated that the name brand was permissable in my situation. They denied my requests (after failing to meet their self-imposed response deadlines). I contacted the AG's office and was put in contact with Matt Kessler. After several months of diligence and intelligent follow through, he was able to get Blue Cross to honor the contract they had made with me. Without his advocacy, I doubt that I could have gotten them to honor the clear dictates of the contract. He always returned my phone calls and kept me in the loop. I am very grateful for Matt's hard work and for this brilliant agency. The founder's understood the potential powerlessness of an individual in the face of a powerful corporate entity--regardless of how in the right the individual might be. This goes a long way to restore my faith in our government, the commons, why we pay taxes, and public service. Great good on all of you!
