• Educate family historians through programs, classes, and workshops.
• Collect, preserve, and publish genealogical and historical documents and databases to assist in successful research.
• Support a genealogical library and offers individual assistance to family historians in their research.
• Bring together people with similar ethnic interests, through a variety of branch organizations, affiliated societies and special interest groups.
Membership is open to all.
MGS maintains a collection of over 30,000 volumes, including world-renowned collections of Irish, Canadian, Czech, Ostfriesen and Norwegian materials. Other materials include documents and databases from all 50 states, Minnesota Counties, and MN Cemetery listings. Many volumes are out of print and/or unique to our collection. The MGS collection includes over 3,000 family histories.
