Been here 3 years and are soapy we moved in long before we needed to medically! Lots to do, wonderful group of residents smart, skilled, everyone with a great story to tell, staff that "goes to 11" to take care of us...and right in Portland with a streetcar stop outside the front door...what more could we want?!?!?
The degree to which things are top notch here is impressive. Great community to belong to if you can swing the price tag.
This is the 1st negative review I've posted on google, or any other website. I long ago vowed that it would take a horrible experience to publicly and anonymously post a bad review. I'm sorry to say this was such an experience. BEWARE, this is a beautiful facility, but my mother was treated horribly after close to 2 years and a $10,000 deposit on their waiting list. After 12 months on their waiting list, in February 2016, we informed the sales staff that mom had been diagnosed with dementia, but she was still excited about the Mirabella. Were we told "that shouldn't be a problem, as long as she is doing well and is still independent when she moves in". We checked in this summer, meeting with their sales manager, Adam. Again, we were told she is still on the waiting list, be patient, but when available, she will get to see and choose from several floorplans. We were again 100% truthful about her diagnosis, but Adam reiterated that she was still very independent, and we didn't see that changing in the near future; "that shouldn't be a problem". Nine months later, we are shown 2 available units, and given a Friday deadline to choose a unit. My mom chose a beautiful unit facing Mt Hood. They even talked about choosing carpet, flooring, paint colors etc. They took notes on some small requests we had for lighting changes to the unit etc. We called back on Thursday to tell Renee we would take the unit, and ONLY THEN were told that "she still had to be approved, as her diagnosis might be an issue. But, it should just be a formality". Two weeks later, they finally tell us she CAN'T join the Mirabella community. Yes, they apologized, yes they said it wasn't handled correctly, yes they admitted that the sales and medical team should better communicate admittance criteria etc.. But the bottom line is; it was cruel, insensitive, unprofessional and misleading. How they could show a senior an apartment, watch them get excited after nearly 2 years of waiting, 2 years of cordial and positive conversations, then slam the door based on information they had 9 months earlier is inexcusable. We wasted nine months that we could have used to search for other possible facilities. I'm sure for most applicants and residents this is a wonderful facility. I post this only so other seniors and their families are cautious with The Mirabella, or any senior facility, and never have to be so callously treated on a major life change. We owe our seniors, our parents, more respect and definitely more care and compassion.
My parents live here. I'd live here too, if it were rental and accepted people under 62. The food is so good, I gained weight when I came to visit my parents. In a retirement community?! One of the appetizers, Chicken Liver Mousse Profiteroles with a Brandy, Balsamic reduction was amazing. Enough said, the food is top notch. And so is the crowd. The residents are UMC to UC, and educated. People who you wouldn't expect to be in a retirement community. Except maybe this one. There is a terrace garden on the 5th floor that reminds me of what might be at the Bel Aire country club- and if you've never been there, it's lush and green and beautifully landscaped. There are Wolf gas grills and heated lamps and comfortable couches, and really beautiful landscaping. Plumeria, hydrangea, etc... smells great....There are 4 wonderful restaurants. I ate in all of them and I loved all of them. There was classical music playing in the lobby. A rock water garden outside front. A library that had terrific selections on art and cultural and historic interests. Movies. A lovely pool that I swam in. A spa and a sauna and a really nice gym. An impressive staff that cares about its residents and is more reminiscent of a concierge hotel than an assisted living community. There are dogs everywhere. If you or your parents have a dog, it's welcome here. There is a dedicated dog park code entry and a lovely public park across the street. The neighborhood is sort of reminiscent of the Pearl district in Portland. Stylish all the way. Laid back. Youthful, and a great mix. Clean. As I said, this place does not feel old. Nothing about it says, "last stop". I would live here and I am 47.
Not a big fan of businesses who don’t follow labor laws
The bistro was fantastic. The server with red glasses and ponytail was extremely kind. Thanks for the vegan salad!!!
I was selected for an interview for a cna position, I was left in the lobby for over an hour after numerous calls from concierge and emails finally someone came to take me upstairs to interview it went quick ... I did not get a call back ‍
This is the place to go if you want to heal. You will receive expert care, very productive rehab, and excellent food. Mirabella is tops!
Receptionist extremely impatient and rude. So I had to down grade to 4 stars
The food was absolutely perfect and the service was great!
