Interior has a cool comfortable vibe, our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Interesting menu, authentic bbq per my southern guy. It all sounded delicious so it was hard to choose, if I lived here I'd be a regular for sure. We both got brisket, me the sandwich and him the burnt ends --- it was outstanding! Portions were generous, meat tender and flavorful, nice bread and sides. The care put into it didn't go unnoticed. Great place!
Excellent and friendly service with exceptional food. They have mastered the art of frying, be it okra, oysters or chicken. Perfect consistency of crunchy on the outside and tender/juicy on the inside. Their smoked meats are incredible. I suggest the pulled pork or brisket burnt ends. If you're in the mood for some soul food, visit this spot!
Very nice staff, good food we had a pulled pork sandwich, Caesar salad, and the chicken and waffles. It was all very good, especially the fried chicken it was juicy tender, I also didn't feel like I was eating an oversized and over battered chicken tender. There is also a good beer list and the happy hour is very reasonable.
Was only there for happy hour. The ribs, collard greens and dirty mac and cheese were delicious. I thought the cheesy grits were too dry and could have used more flavor. Great spot and great vibe!
The portions were generous, but I wasn't impressed overall. I had a soft-shell crab po-boy, but the coating on the crab was almost tasteless, and the cornbread I subbed for my fries was almost inedibly dry and didn't taste much like corn despite the presence of actual corn kernels in the bread. Service was friendly and good, and my meal got delivered in a timely manner. I may go back once more just in case I got there on a bad day -- I want to like a BBQ place around the block from me.
We were super excited to try this place and have been wanting for a long time to have a great barbecue spot in the neighborhood. Sadly, we will not be coming back. There was a party of 30-40 in the back for a Christmas get together, and they were being rowdy and hooting and hollering, which was no big deal. We sat out front with 5 people. We ordered drinks and apps, which showed up about 20 minutes later. Out server was absent when we wanted water refills. Everyone ordered food: pizza, fried oysters, ribs, sides, and sandwiches. It only went downhill from there. The server, guy with red hair and goatee, pulled our appetizers when we were still grazing, and didn't ask if we were done. It was another 40 minutes before we got our food, so over an hour after we arrived. I get it, we've all worked in the food industry, and it happens. I ordered the pulled chicken, and instead got the pulled pork. I let the server know and when he asked if I wanted something else I said no, because I didn't want to wait another 30 minutes for some food. The sandwich was doused in vinegar and the side salad tasted like it hadn't been washed. I ordered some barbecue sauce to try and choke it down, but it tasted like a thick soy sauce. I didn't take more than a few bites from the whole thing and the server looked over constantly and saw that I wasn't eating my food. The other sandwich had a crusty burnt bun, but was still eaten. The next nightmare were the bills. Everything was mixed up, and our server had charged my boyfriend $26 for the ribs, which was the half price instead of the quarter. Which is fine, they got eaten, but the server never asked which size we wanted. They also up-charged our friend $6 when the menu said $2 to add andouille sausage to their hot chicken sandwich. They charged for extra sauce, and charged me full price for my sandwich, which wasn't even the one I ordered. You would think that after all of that mess, they would buy us a beer or something or at least not charge me for the sandwich that I didn't order, but no. They manager took $6 off after we went up to the bar to talk to them about it. The entire time we were talking to the manager the server was shaking and had his head in his hands. Poor guy. We left still hungry and upset! It sucks when a spot with a lot of potential doesn't show class or admit fault. What a bummer.
I live near by so I’ve gone here 4 times now. 2 were good and 2 were not so great. 1st time- got a pulled pork sandwich there, which tasted good except for the soggy bottom bun but, super nice waiter, seasoned fries and good cocktails. 2nd time- pepperoni pizza to go was really good and hit all sides of the to go box. 3rd time- hot chicken sandwich to go was okay but I had to take most of the breading off the chicken because it was so burnt. And the 4th- got the pepperoni pizza to go again because last time was so good. But I was really, really disappointed this time. It was about half the size as last time and there was hardly any pepperoni on it. I really wanted to love this place but it’s so inconsistent. Not sure if I’ll try again.
I don't want to tell you how good this place is because I want to get a seat. The dollar wings on happy hour are incredible. House made everything and you can taste it. Glad to find this place. Mellow, decent prices, food will break your mouth.
Delicious burnt end brisket, mac and cheese and smoker beans. Their bbq sauce is outstanding. Good service! My wife loved the fried pickles and her soft shell crab po boy.
I got the ribs and they were burnt to a crisp. I had a hard time breaking them apart because they were so hard. The worst ribs I’ve ever had. I got the pulled chicken when I returned the ribs and I almost never return food. It was dry and underwhelming. My partner and I both felt sick after eating there.
