I had an enjoyable time here. This place is more of a restaurant for a weekend brunch and to come to socialize than to purely come for the food. The food was great but the environment feels more made for a weekend gathering. Where I ended up sitting with my friends and family was in a pretty crowded and congested area. I found myself saying “excuse me” a lot just to make it out the door. In terms of food, it was pretty good. The quesadillas were very fulfilling and the nachos for the appetizers were pretty hearty as well but they were pretty standard nachos. I would come back here for a brunch but I would probably try someplace else for good Latin foods.
I hosted a birthday party here by reserving the front bar with the events team and it was a great experience. There was no room fee and no bar minimum. It was roped off for us so it was always easy to go up to the bar to order more food or drinks. Our guests did separate tabs and it was seamless. I was also able to bring in my own dessert! We had one instance where some other folks not part of bday party ignored the rope & sign but they were promptly asked to move back over. I would definitely host an event with these guys again!
Drove down from NYC and needed a quick, good late night bite and walked until we came to The Mission. My tacos were good, but one thing about flour tortillas, the need some kick, some seasoning combo added to them. Otherwise, they are flat next to shrimp w mangoes and seasoned chicken. The wings were delicious. Hubby had the Southeest salad. As it was late, the music perhaps DJ was really loud. It was difficult for the diners who were seated and not at the bar to hold conversations.
Mission DuPont Circle is a great Mexican restaurant, offering classic dishes and delicious margarita pitchers. The place is a bit dirty see picture; however, the prices are reasonable and service is quick. We had their hibiscus marg pitcher and it was great! They offer both salt and sugar rims. I’ve gone here several times and I’m always met with the same, average service and decent meal.
**UPDATE** So I've come back here a few times since writing this original review and I've always had great food and good service until today. The reason I'm updating this review is because out of all the times I've been they have never asked me for a card to hold for the table. My friend group consisting of all of us being Black and Hispanic minorities with tattoos felt discriminated against because we paid attention to the people that got sat around us and none of them gave cards to the waiter. Food was really good especially the chicken quesadilla and vegan tacos. On the particular day we went it was packed but without reservations we were seated as a party 5 within 20 minutes. Service was a little slow but that’s understandable being how packed it was. I definitely plan on returning
Hosted a private event for my department holiday party and had a phenomenal time! Service was amazing, the vibes were awesome. They worked with us to host a great event and we will definitely be back!Food: 5/5
I hosted my birthday party at Mission Dupont after hosting it at Hawthorne last year, and I am once again so impressed! They always set up the space so nicely, have attentive bartenders, and are easy to work with. I will always host my events at Mission Group!Food: 5/5
I hosted a birthday gathering at Mission in Dupont Circle for a group of 25 people. The reservation process through to execution of the gathering was easy, convenient, and the service was excellent! I was not charged an event fee like most restaurants charge, and I was able to have guests open their own tabs and order food and drinks as they wished. Low hassle for everyone involved. Music was amazing, food was great, drinks were great. It was a great experience all around and we had a great time! Thank you!
Made reservations for a Friday night after arriving into DC. Arrived, and it was hot so decided to sit inside, which was much less crowded than patio/street. At first the service was great. It slowly declined throughout the meal. To the point where we waited almost half an hour just to flag someone and bring the bill. As we left, our server was socializing with other employees outside the entrance….maybe attend to your patrons before play time?? Was annoying. But the food was good—had the queso to start then barría tacos and barría grilled cheese. Everything was delicious. So giving 3 stars. Remember your patrons sitting inside when patio is busy!
My firm hosted an ~80 person holiday event on the first floor of the space and it was such a blast! The entire team at Mission was so helpful leading up to the event to make sure we had a custom food menu catering to our interests and that the space was decorated in any way that we wanted. The space was perfect and during the event the team constantly checked in on us to make sure everything was going smoothly. We couldn't have asked for a better time!
